[Bug 1573192] Re: apparmor prevents using SCSI hostdevs
Workaround in focal fossa lts Example connect my blueray sata device to virtual machine 1) check device channel (in my case channel 2 and device sg5) root@host:~# lsscsi -g [2:0:0:0]cd/dvd ASUS BC-12B1ST1.01 /dev/sr0 /dev/sg5 2) edit the file /etc/apparmor.d/libvirt/TEMPLATE.qemu end add line owner /dev/sg5 rw, owner /dev/sg5 k, example content file /etc/apparmor.d/libvirt/TEMPLATE.qemu # # This profile is for the domain whose UUID matches this file. # #include profile LIBVIRT_TEMPLATE flags=(attach_disconnected) { #include owner /dev/sg5 rw, owner /dev/sg5 k, } 3) on vm xml add where 2 on value scsi_host2 correspond to previously command lsscsi -g -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1573192 Title: apparmor prevents using SCSI hostdevs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1573192/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1627546] [NEW] use safe mount for usb devices
Public bug reported: For years ubuntu has been plagued by horrible user experience when dealing with usb drives: - user forget to unmount device - fs is corrupted - user insert device back and is overwritten/lost Luckily solution is finally available: ubuntu should use systemd-mount for all usb devices so they are - mount only when it's really necessary - aggressively unmounted to prevent data loss - fscked before mounting This will lead to much nicer situation where new users will not blame ubuntu anymore for data loss. ** Affects: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1627546 Title: use safe mount for usb devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-meta/+bug/1627546/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 131094] Re: Heavy Disk I/O harms desktop responsiveness
In my case ( see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1460985 ) the culprit generating huge I/O throughput was in /etc/cron.daily/man-db It's such a long-standing and persistent bug that the default advice I give nowadays to people complaining about their ubuntu "got stuck again" is to run "sudo killall -9 find". That's really a shame: - it's not some random IO spike coming from nowhere - it's not 3rd-party, it's in default install - it's reproducible Yet, we still don't even have workaround, let alone proper policing IO of all the background tasks shipped in default ubuntu install. [Bug 1505957] [NEW] ntfs copy kills ubuntu
Public bug reported: This is trivial to reproduce - just plug any external drive with ntfs and copy smth substantial to local ntfs partition. The result - mouse doesn't even move most of the time, the system is useless and unresponsive until copying is finished. Yes, ntfs is not native on GNU/Linux but nevertheless - this is very common task on loads of dual boot installations. And under no circumstances it should make ubuntu useless as it does now. I don't care much if copying big files to/from ntfs takes 5 or 10 minutes as long as I can actually keep using ubuntu in a meantime. Note the same effect can be observer while copying between ntfs and ext4 or btrfs - only in this case you can sometimes move mouse pointer a bit. [Bug 1479732] [NEW] systemd causes mess in /var/tmp
Public bug reported: There's enormous amount of directories like systemd-private- fdd28b0bfe4c47808e41dbb7a0300bdc-colord.service-vrglD7 in /var/tmp It's clear why they are necessary but it's still looks irritating and is magnified (compared to /tmp for example) by the fact that /var/tmp is not cleaned up (and of course it shouldn't be) on every reboot. The solution is trivial and already employed by lots of services for /tmp - just prepend . to the folder name so it's hidden from user's file manager. Would be excellent if ubuntu could apply this to systemd as well: the lesser is chance for user confusion (those directories are unaccessible to the user anyway so there's little sense in showing them) - the better. ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1479732 Title: systemd causes mess in /var/tmp To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1479732/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1470580] Re: unprivileged lxc containers fails with custom bridge
Thanks for clarification! Would be kinda helpful if lxc-start could print actual numbers (X quota configured for bridge123, Y is in use). What's the upper limit on those quota numbers? Can I have 100 bridges with 400 interfaces in each? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1470580 Title: unprivileged lxc containers fails with custom bridge To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1470580/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

And still - the interfaces are named eth0, eth1 etc. Surprisingly on another machine modifying kernel command line and killing udev rules from /etc were sufficient to get rid of this renaming.
