Using 8.04 LTS with compiz, docking/undocking is not working (at all)
anymore with alltray thunderbird %u or alltray thunderbird from the
launcher. However, alltray thunderbird from a terminal does work
correctlty, unlike alltray thunderbird %u from a terminal.

In fact I have to specify: the docking / undocking directly by clicking
on the dock icin does not work in the 3 previous cases. However, when
initiated with the minimize windows button on the top right corner of
the thunderbird window (ie the button with the flat line, not the square
or the cross)
I have an issue somewhat related: gvfs-fuse eats all the space and then
I can't find no way to free it. See the system monitor snapshot

I confirm this issue with a fersh new Hardy install, usb file transfer
has always been fine with the previous Hardy distros, so it must
probably be a gvfs related issue.

I don't think getting around the issue is the solution. Evince is the official
pdf viewing application for Gnome and should be able to work out of the box.
Also, acroread does not work straightforwardly for amd64. Plus it is a software
one has to add manually, just like xpdf.
So fact is Ubuntu
I'm quite sorry this has not yet been sorted out, I still can't do
serious printing with Gutsy computers here at the office, it's a serious
stopper.

I already had tried this solution. In my case, the gnome keybindings plugin of
compiz is freeing the system.
It's a registered bug on the opencompositing bugtracker and the dev there say
this plugin is not oficially supported by compiz.
