[Bug 1053780] Re: Copying MP3 Files To A Subdirectory Fails

2013-07-14 Thread gumpish
Can someone put a patched version for 12.04 in a PPA? (If the
maintainers can't be arsed to implement a one line patch which the
source distribution saw fit to roll out, I'm pessimistic about any
packages for already-released versions of *buntu ever being updated
except to patch critical security vulnerabilities. Which is fine, I'm
not a paying customer so I'm not complaining.)

[Bug 996791] Re: Xubuntu 12.04 extremely slow login

2012-10-15 Thread gumpish
I guess we all get what we pay for, huh? Now that Shuttleworth isn't
propping up the operation anymore they must not have the resources to
even look at bug reports anymore. Guess I'll be heading back to good old
(stale) Debian, especially now that the default DE in wheezy is xfce.

It was good while it lasted, [xk]?ubuntu!

[Bug 606775] Re: jmagick docs package doesn't contain API docs

2010-09-01 Thread gumpish
Looks like maverick doesn't have this problem:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/maverick/all/jmagick6-docs/filelist

Though I find it amazing that a package could have its entire contents
purged and no one in the process knows how or why it happened. I also
find it troubling that no one who has the power to do so will correct
this issue with lucid or karmic in spite of the fact that this package
is JUST DOCUMENTATION. I guess you get what you pay for, eh?

** Changed in: jmagick (Ubuntu)
   Status: Confirmed = Fix Released

[Bug 399436] Re: Error OAFIID:GNOME_TSClientApplet while adding the applet onto panel

2010-03-09 Thread gumpish
Wow. Really? Well, we've fixed it in the next release WHICH IS STILL
ALPHA. Why don't you just upgrade now?

This bug was identified and fixed upstream two months before Karmic was
released. No packages depend on it... it was caused by a typo in a
patch... and yet all the brainpower behind Ubuntu can't get the fixed
package into karmic?

WTF?

[Bug 479965] Re: bootwait in fstab causes mount problems

Guess not. Apparently people encrypting their disk are so far from
mainstream that it just doesn't make business sense to support those
users of the current release.

[Bug 239231] Re: cannot name workspaces on hardy 8.04

2009-05-19 Thread gumpish
I am also experiencing this bug with a clean install of 9.04, both AMD64
and x86.

Although it's true that you can access the full workspace properties
dialog by disabling visual effects (per glacialfury's comment), as soon
as you enable visual effects again the names vanish from the contexual
menus of the title bar of windows (ie, Move to another workspace -
Desk 1, Desk 2, Desk 3...) and from the workspace switcher applet (all
workspaces share the name of the first workspace).

[Bug 237170] Re: Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller Doesn't Work On Hardy

2008-12-26 Thread gumpish
So, just so there's no confusion, Long Term Support means:

If a problem is discovered that allows your box to get owned remotely,
we'll release a fix.

and it does NOT mean:

If a problem is discovered that doesn't have security implications, we
will not update the repos no matter how trivial and free of side-effects
the fix is. Upgrade your OS.
