[Bug 1294303] Re: Mediascanner-service-2 process is killing HD and consumes lot of CPU
That log file indicates that you might be missing some codecs, because some of your mp3 files fail on indexing. You might want to install gstreamer1.0 plugin packages bad and/or ugly. I have those packages installed since always. Mediascanner must scan the files or they can't be queried by the music scope or the music player app. Since I never truly used Music Scope, (not even believe it to be useful for me) uninstall Mediascanner was a better solution - of course in my case. Mediascanner remembers what files you had on the volume and the next time you plug it in it only scans what has changed. Actually Mediascanner never properly scanned my internal hard drive (before uninstalling, of course), so Music Scope showed only a few files from my collection. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1294303 Title: Mediascanner-service-2 process is killing HD and consumes lot of CPU To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mediascanner2/+bug/1294303/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1292396] Re: After upgrade Unity session is broken
I would recommend trying to fix your packages by explicitly installing the unity-desktop package and see if it fixes your current problems. You mean - ubuntu-desktop, right? For me, this is (or, to be precise - was) not the best solution :), because installing ubuntu-desktop also causes installation of lots of packages, which I find pretty useless and unnecessary. Like I wrote, I just installed unity package, and after resetig Unity (dconf reset -f /org/compiz/) everything was back to normal. [...] a whole slew of packages, including the all-important ubuntu-desktop metapackage, were removed on 2014-03-13 around 23h00. Yes, it's true. But this wasn't effect of my action - it happened as a result of this particular upgrade. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1292396 Title: After upgrade Unity session is broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1292396/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1292396] [NEW] After upgrade Unity session is broken
Public bug reported: After yesterdays upgrade, when I log in into default session (Unity), there was no Panel, no Launcher, no windows decorations. there was Yesterday's upgrade was related to Unity packadges, so after reboot I logged into Gnome Flashback session - works as expected. Reboot - and there is no Unity session in Unity Greeter. I logged again into Flashback and launch Synaptic. I saw, that Unity package wasn't even installed, so I installed it - Unity session shows up in Greeter, but thaths all, still no Panel, no Launcher, etc. In CCSM Unity plugin was uncheck. I was able to launch window decorations, but launching Unity plugin caused CCSC crash. In another try there was info, that launch of Unity plugin is in conflict with Window Decorations plugin, but somehow launching Unity plugin does nothing, but Compiz crash (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1292393). [Bug 1283247] [NEW] The screen is not blanked when Rhythmbox is playing music
Public bug reported: When Rhythmbox will end playing music, screen goes blank immediately (and is set to do it after 10 min of inactivity, not waiting for end of playback). [Bug 1283269] [NEW] Rhythmbox does not display notifications and doesn't display details and cover of played song in Sound Indicator
Public bug reported: Earlier version of Rhythmbox (2.9x) showed the notifications about played music track (title, cover, etc), but with Rhythmbox 3.x there is no notifications at all. [Bug 1128492] Re: wallpaper not updating
This affect me too. Unity-greeter stuck with wallpaper set before upgrade to 13.04. Wallpaper doesn't change even when I'm manually edit in dconf it's name. When I'm trying change greeter background using Ubuntu Tweak, new wallpaper shows up for a little moment, and after that again visible is the old one. [Bug 973559] Re: gtk-window-decorator is exiting immediately (or crashing?)
I don't know, maybe, because /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/10_compiz-gnome.gschema.override on my computer looks exactly like Doug McMahon's (#6), and dconf list /org/compiz/profiles/ gives me unity/ too, like in Daniel van Vugt comment (#7). [Bug 543400] [NEW] I/O error after upgrade from karmic to lucid; LiveCD or AlternateCD not recognized hard drive properly
Public bug reported: I/O error (like in Bug #539027) appears after update, and after reboot, when system trying to boot from hard drive. Hovewer, LiveCD (beta 1, and earlier) starts almost flawless, but don't recognize my disk (in gparted or palimpsest there is no disk appear at all). Installation from alternate CD starts (build from 18.03 and earlier; disk and partitions are recognized properly), but freezing when partitioning program is trying to start. I use Asus A8VX motherboard with latest BIOS, Athlon 64 3800+ processor, Seagate Barracuda Sata II (ST3500418AS) hard drive and 32bit system. In earlier versions (from 8.04 up to 9.10) I used grub command boot: pci=nomsi - without this text busybox starts only. When I used alternate cd and try install lucid on IDE disk, everything goes very good - without grub pci=nomsi command. When I try the same operation on Sata disks (Seagate ST3500418AS and Hitachi HTS541080G9SA00), without grub pci=nomsi command, hard drives are not recognized properly, and installator asks to choose driver - and I give up. Any changes in BIOS doesn't help. If I add pci=nomsi, installation from alternate cd was succesfull on Hitachi HTS541080G9SA00, but on Seagate ST3500418AS (wich is used as my primary disk) ends with frozen partitioning program and cannot be completed. Now I downgrade back to karmic (on Seagate), but I have copy of /var/log (after upgrade to lucid - IMO it's useless, because lucid never boot) - if some file from there is needed, I can post.
