[Bug 1699660] Re: systemd-resolve breaks resolution of local network hostnames
Thanks Martin, your solution to disable systemd-resolve allowed me to finally resolve hosts on my local network again... I was using a temporary workaround of replacing "echo 'nameserver 192.168.1.1' > /etc/resolv.conf", however that doesn't survive reboots. This issue should be addressed by Ubuntu devs, systemd is pretty seriously f-ing up a basic form of usability in being able to resolve machines (and devices) by name on a local home network. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1699660 Title: systemd-resolve breaks resolution of local network hostnames To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1699660/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1431743] Re: fails to boot due to read-ony file system
This should be reopened. This is a potentially serious regression that broke on my machine upgrading from 14.10 to 15.04. The way in which it broke left me looking at a shell that told me despite my FS being mounted rw according to mount, all commands were failing because of Read-only file system. It is in no way intuitive why it happens, nor the solution that adding an entry to /etc/fstab for the root would fix it, given that that fstab entry was not required in 14.10 and prior. I'm fortunate enough to be experienced enough to find this report and execute follow the steps, many non-power/novice users will not be. This issue could have been avoided altogether by implementing a post- install check that examines the fstab and corrects the issue or at least notifies the user to correct the issue before rebooting. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1431743 Title: fails to boot due to read-ony file system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1431743/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 517934] Re: sisusbvga driver does not work with StarTech USB2VGAE2
I can personally confirm that video on the Tritton XD300 (0711:5100 - Trigger 1+) is functional w/ the drivers on MaX 6.5RC2 w/ max-multiseat package installed. To make it work I had to use a USB to PS2 splitter in the USB port next to the sound input/output jacks. There's a lot of magic done with dynamic xorg.conf and gdm config in the background all wrapping around a libusb based driver set-up that I'm not entirely sure I understand But if we can pump video over usb to a Trigger 1+ with this, I don't see why it couldn't also used for other 0711:5100 devices. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/517934 Title: sisusbvga driver does not work with StarTech USB2VGAE2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/517934/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 313435] Re: Gnome's mouse paralysed and remains while playing
I've had this problem on Intrepid also, there is a bug in my monitor (Gateway XHD3000) that causes the screen to blank and this causes glest to toggle out of fullscreen mode. [Bug 326431] Re: virtualbox does not appear on default start menu - virtualbox-ose.desktop should include System in list of Categories
This, however, should be marked as Wishlist importance as it is not necessarily a bug, but a request for something that would make the program better. If it worked in Hardy but no longer works now; by what reasoning should it be marked as Wishlist? It should be marked as a regression (unless there is a good reason why it was changed to no longer work). You can always use alt-f2 to run these programs. Most people prefer to add applications to the menu by themselves so they can have their own menu layout. What are you talking about? How many Windows applications have users to create their own icons in the start menu after installation?!? The app already ships an icon file associated with 2 menu entries that people are unlikely to have, I'm just asking (with a patch provided to do it even) that it be added to the one it used to be on System Tools As it is now you can apt-get the VBoxGtk front-end and that shows up in System Tools... why shouldn't the official vbox gui show up there by default as well? Here is the console of the crashed process: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ mythtv-setup X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169 Major opcode: 147 Minor opcode: 3 Resource id: 0x0 Failed to open device X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169 Major opcode: 147 Minor opcode: 3 Resource id: 0x0 Failed to open device 2006-10-17 20:10:47.169 Using runtime prefix = /usr 2006-10-17 20:10:47.172 DPMS is active. 2006-10-17 20:10:47.216 New DB connection, total: 1 2006-10-17 20:10:47.220 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2006-10-17 20:10:47.222 Total desktop dim: 1600x1200, with 1 screen[s]. 2006-10-17 20:10:47.225 Using screen 0, 1600x1200 at 0,0 2006-10-17 20:10:47.241 Current Schema Version: 1160 2006-10-17 20:10:47.250 Total desktop dim: 1600x1200, with 1 screen[s]. 2006-10-17 20:10:47.251 Using screen 0, 1600x1200 at 0,0 2006-10-17 20:10:47.252 Switching to square mode (MythCenter) 2006-10-17 20:10:47.363 Using the OpenGL painter mythtv: could not open config file /home/ged/.mythtv/lircrc mythtv: No such file or directory Failed to read lirc config /home/ged/.mythtv/lircrc for mythtv 2006-10-17 20:10:48.074 Joystick disabled. 2006-10-17 20:10:48.394 Loading from: /usr/share/mythtv/themes/default/base.xml 2006-10-17 20:10:57.475 Using NV NPOT texture extension 2006-10-17 20:11:15.070 New DB connection, total: 2 2006-10-17 20:11:15.071 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2006-10-17 20:11:15.071 DiSEqCDevTree, Warning: No device tree for cardid 1 2006-10-17 20:11:15.074 New DB connection, total: 3 2006-10-17 20:11:15.074 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2006-10-17 20:11:15.077 New DB connection, total: 4 2006-10-17 20:11:15.078 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2006-10-17 20:11:15.079 New DB connection, total: 5 2006-10-17 20:11:15.079 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2006-10-17 20:12:02.044 DVBChan(0) Warning: Symbol Rate setting (0) is out of range (min/max:5056941/10762000) 2006-10-17 20:12:19.003 DVBChan(0) Warning: Symbol Rate setting (0) is out of range (min/max:5056941/10762000) 2006-10-17 20:12:19.473 Could not find channel -1_-1 in CVCT 2006-10-17 20:12:19.473 VCT Cable: channels(1) tsid(0x43a1) seclength(116) Channel #0 name(CBLT-DT) 5-1 mod(ATSC 8-VSB) cTSID(0x43a1) pnum(3) ETM_loc(0) access_ctrl(0) hidden(0) path_select(0) out_of_band(0) hide_guide(0) service_type(2) source_id(4) descriptors length(71) count(2) ExtendedChannelNameDescriptor: 'CBC Toronto High Definition Television' Service Location Descriptor (0xa1) length(21) 2006-10-17 20:12:28.631 DVBChan(0) Warning: Symbol Rate setting (0) is out of range (min/max:5056941/10762000) 2006-10-17 20:12:29.050 Could not find channel -1_-1 in CVCT 2006-10-17 20:12:29.051 VCT Cable: channels(1) tsid(0x43a7) seclength(100) Channel #0 name(CBLFT-D) 25-1 mod(ATSC 8-VSB) cTSID(0x43a7) pnum(3) ETM_loc(0) access_ctrl(0) hidden(0) path_select(0) out_of_band(0) hide_guide(0) service_type(2) source_id(5) descriptors length(55) count(2) ExtendedChannelNameDescriptor: 'SRC Toronto Haute definition' Service Location Descriptor (0xa1) length(15) 2006-10-17 20:12:50.400 DVBChan(0) Warning: Symbol Rate setting (0) is out of range (min/max:5056941/10762000) 2006-10-17 20:12:50.965 DVBChan(0) Warning: Symbol Rate setting (0) is out of range (min/max:5056941/10762000) 2006-10-17 20:13:03.629 DVBChan(0) Warning: Symbol Rate setting (0) is out of range (min/max:5056941/10762000) 2006-10-17 20:13:07.017 DVBChan(0) Warning: Symbol Rate setting (0) is out of range (min/max:5056941/10762000) 2006-10-17 20:13:13.357 DVBChan(0) Warning: Symbol Rate setting (0) is out of range (min/max:5056941/10762000) 2006-10-17 20:13:13.717 DVBChan(0) Warning: Symbol Rate setting (0) is out of range (min/max:5056941/10762000) 2006-10-17 20:13:38.869 New DB DataDirect connection 2006-10-17 20:13:38.871 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost *** glibc detected *** mythtv-setup: munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer: 0x2c55274f *** === Backtrace: = /lib/libc.so.6(__libc_free+0x17a)[0x2b66c42089aa] /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN7QGArrayD2Ev+0x76)[0x2b66c30abb70] /usr/lib/libmythtv-0.20.so.0(_ZN9QMemArrayIcED1Ev+0x27)[0x2b66bf8d8719] /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN7QBufferD0Ev+0x2b)[0x2b66c3098ca9] /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN11QDataStreamD1Ev+0x53)[0x2b66c30a17fb] /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZNK11QTranslator11findMessageEPKcS1_S1_+0x49b)[0x2b66c2dbca39] /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZNK12QApplication9translateEPKcS1_S1_NS_8EncodingE+0xe5)[0x2b66c2d6d771] /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN7QObject2trEPKcS1_+0x4e)[0x2b66c313dace]
[Bug 63493] Re: mythweb.postinst: 31: Syntax error: Bad substitution (fix is to use Bash instead)
It seems the stuff I've reported so far on myth and LCDproc sits unconfirmed/unassigned and I have to re-fix with each package rev update... I'm curious if there there a way to get my bug reports noticed a bit quicker (I do include fixes where I find them)? Is there something else on Launchpad I should be doing also? Do people generally announce their bugs on IRC or something?
