Achim, Just tested your document on karmic alpha 6 with the current official karmic OO.org package which is 1:3.1.1-2ubuntu1 (karmic) I am on 64bit. Firstly let me just be clear that if I download test.odt and export as pdf I get erroneous characters (please see attached file testexport.pdf).
