*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 387112 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/387112 I tried upgrading again and that failed in the same way. Because I expected the possibility of this happening, I was able to collect useful debugging data about this bug. This appears to be the trouble:

[Bug 303697] Re: [RV730XT] [fglrx] video tearing / vsync problems - independent of compiz use

2010-02-23 Thread jamebus
Yes. One thing to note is the radeon driver in karmic has anti-tearing features when using XVideo. flgrx and older radeon don't have that. I can confirm radeon = no tearing, whereas flgrx = tearing -- [RV730XT] [fglrx] video tearing / vsync problems - independent of compiz use

[Bug 151674] Re: compiz+nvidia: tearing in xvideo (totem/mplayer/VLC)

2007-11-16 Thread jamebus
So far I'm getting much better results by enabling Sync to To VBlank in CCSM. Changing settings in nvida-settings doesn't appear to help things any. XVideo by default will sync to vblank, which is what you want if you're rendering directly to the display without the use of a composite manager.

[Bug 73865] Re: realtime is now realcap but init scripts do not reflect this change

2007-05-01 Thread jamebus
An update. Feisty doesn't have this problem. The kernel doesn't ship with a module called realcap. Instead you'll need to build a realtime-lsm-module using module-assistant just like in distributions before edgy. Building realtime-lsm-module yields a module called realtime.ko and the startup

[Bug 83102] Re: xscreensaver/twinview resolution issues

2007-04-24 Thread jamebus
Hello. Good news. Before 2.6.8-5ubuntu3 (shipped in feisty) I experienced the exact same issue - I was seeing only half the video. Now, in feisty, I see the sheep playing full-screen. But the same image appears on each display. This is really great, but not ideal. I'd prefer to have a
