Sounds like the Dock is losing its network connection (I'm assuming its wired
to the NIC on the dock)
When this issue occurs again, remove the network cable from the dock and try
logging in. If it lets you in - The dock may be in some sort of power save
mode stopping network connectivity.

You may not invalidate this bug so fast as it seems easy enough to reproduce. I
got it on two HP 2510p laptops. Apparently, #12 solves it, that's a lead. I

I tried this on both hardy and intrepid, and this seems to be ok on both
(both fresh installs, upgrade done). I am not at home, but I'm trying in
very similar conditions (same laptop, same wifi encryption).

iwl4965 performance issue
I got the same problem (and the one with kernel panics from the intel
wifi), but it seems to be solved too.

Unfortunately, I can't tell, as I am also a victim of all the intel bugs
of Intrepid [1], and I had to go back to hardy . I will try as soon as
possible (maybe next weekend ?) to install an intrepid on a new
partition

I confirm things written here. I got a laptop with an intel 4965, and
the latest 8.10 makes it freeze just after a few minutes.
I have tried 3 things from this thread :
- 11n_disable : I couldn't see any wireless networks around me, no scan
results
- lbm : kept crashing quite the same way

I had the problem (glxinfo crashed, couldn't get any 3d app to run). I
have an intel 945 graphics, and the nvidia driver was installed (I saw
it being installed during an upgrade a few weeks ago). I followed ld's
link, removed nvidia, ran dexconf and all came back to normal.

Yes, I got a partial upgrade yesterday and I tested the new kernel. It
works ok, I haven't found any new bugs, and I got wifi and X working
again. You can close this bug report, and I will fill new bug reports if
something else happens.

I am using intrepid right now on this very same laptop. If I use the
latest linux-image (2.6.25) I have no X, and I cannot see my wifi
network (but I can see some others). For the time being, using intrepid
kernel may not be an answer :-(

Worked perfectly on hardy. Still works perfectly on intrepid when I boot
on a 2.6.24-17-generic kernel for example (the system was upgraded from
hardy).

I use a HP 2510p, and I have a wireless AP cisco aironet 350. With this
hardware all my connections were slowed down, until I removed QoS ...
