I've installed zfs-dkms and it did the work. I can confirm system works
as expected and performance is higher now.

[Bug 1969482] Re: zfs-2.1.4+ sru

2022-05-20 Thread Josef Rypáček
I've set up proposed and installed following. It does NOT work as
expected.

I used following command to install zfs / kernel packages and dependencies and
it resulted in installation / upgrade of packages mentioned below.

apt install zfsutils-linux zfs-initramfs zfs-zed linux-generic linux-
image-generic-hwe-22.04 linux-firmware linux-generic-hwe-20.04

Install:
linux-image-5.15.0-33-generic:amd64 (5.15.0-33.34, automatic),

linux-firmware:amd64 (20220329.git681281e4-0ubuntu3,
20220329.git681281e4-0ubuntu3.2)

Then I got following system after reboot

root@XXX:~# uname -a
Linux nas139 5.15.0-33-generic #34-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 18 13:34:26 UTC 2022
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

root@XXX:~# zfs --version
zfs-2.1.4-0ubuntu0.1
zfs-kmod-2.1.2-1ubuntu3

I still have old zfs-kmod a still very low ZFS performance on encrypted
filesystem.
Did I do something wrong or there is missing updated zfs-kmod?

[Bug 1881107] Re: zfs: backport AES-GCM performance accelleration

2020-06-25 Thread Josef Rypáček
I can confirm the fix will enhance speed ~ 3 times on my machine, but fixed ZFS
kernel module is not included even in current focal-updates kernel
(linux-modules-5.4.0-39-generic).
I had to install zfs-dkms to get zfs kernel module of version 0.8.3-1ubuntu12.1.

I was trying to find what version will include fixed zfs module, but
without success.

[Bug 1880694] [NEW] The tomcat9.service doesn't use JAVA_HOME defined in /etc/default/tomcat9

2020-05-26 Thread Josef Cacek
Public bug reported:

When I define JAVA_HOME in /etc/default/tomcat9, it's not used by the
tomcat9 after the service restart.

I have 2 JDKs installed
openjdk-11-jdk
openjdk-14-jdk

The /etc/default/tomcat9 contains:
JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-11-openjdk-amd64
JAVA_OPTS="-Djava.awt.headless=true -Dspring.profiles.active=production"

After the tomcat9 service restart, the Java version used is still 14:
java.specification.version=14

== Workaround
It started to work with Java 11 when I added following line to the service file
(/usr/lib/systemd/system/tomcat9.service):
EnvironmentFile=/etc/default/tomcat9

It was followed by:
sudo systemctl daemon-reload
sudo systemctl restart tomcat9.service

I have the same problem when trying to install Ubuntu with ZFS on 3 TB HDD

I booted in BIOS mode and I can't try UEFI mode because my computer doesn't

Installation on 750 GB works fine as it will create MBR scheme.

[Bug 1872282] Re: Failed to get user record: Invalid argument

2020-04-14 Thread Josef Hopfgartner
Hey Balint,

thanks for the fix!
Works like a charm right now.

I've also noticed an improvement with version 245:
after reboot gdm login screen displays the last logins from AD/winbind accounts
the same like from UNIX accounts.

[Bug 1872282] [NEW] Failed to get user record: Invalid argument

2020-04-12 Thread Josef Hopfgartner
Public bug reported:

system is ubuntu focal with pam_winbind and nss_winbind enabled.

unix users are not affected.
this bug won't happen with systemd version 2.44.3

beginning with version 245 (including 245.4-2) no user session will be created
after login.
login itself works e.g. on tty2.
but loginctl does not show a corresponding user session.
gdm login needs a user session, so it fails.

this bug already seems to be handled here:
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/15149

this bug only affects user sessions directly on a samba domain controller.
users can log in with pam_systemd version 245 on winbind client workstations in
the same domain.

journalctl reports:
Apr 10 14:11:23 joebook.netzagentur.localdomain login[21975]:

[Bug 1535277] Re: cannot execute birdfont

2019-09-16 Thread Ing. Josef Klotzner
The workaround worked for me also and fixed the problem:

$ sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxmlbird.so.1 /usr/lib/x86_64

Maybe someone responsible for distribution of ubuntu ISO could put this
link to next release of ubuntu 16.04 ?? I did not check if 18.04 is
also effected, but could do ...

The workaround (last comment of Kevin Brubeck Unhammer) worked for me

[Bug 1823194] Re: Windows share (CIFS) mounted over gvfs (by tool Files) is about 10 times slower than mounted by mount -t cifs

2019-04-04 Thread Josef Mašek
Problem is not in gvfs.
I found that I am connected to the same network by the 1 Gigabit copper
interface and by the wireless. When I used mount, traffic went through 1 Gbit
copper, when I used gvfs, traffic went by Wireless (~100 Mbit).
Maybe is issue of the network manager?

In my case, in 16.04 gvfs was same fast as mount -t cifs, but now in
18.04 I have gvfs about 9 times slower than mount (5 MB/s GVFS, 44
MBit/s mount and is probably disk limit now)

[Bug 1823194] [NEW] Windows share (CIFS) mounted over gvfs (by tool Files) is about 10 times slower than mounted by mount -t cifs

2019-04-04 Thread Josef Mašek
Public bug reported:

Copying data by Files says 5MB/s - when I use "Files" and I mounted
windows share (from Freenas 9.x stable) and copy to local disk (also by
Files).

When I use "old way"
in /etc/fstab is:
//192.168.x.x/public  /media/netio  cifs  noauto,guest,iocharset=utf8
mount /medi/netio
and copy files by any tool (also files), it tooks about 1,5 hours and 44 MB/s.

I am copying 170 GB and by gvfs it tooks about 9 hours - more than
working day, by mount and copy only 1,5 hour.

I have updated 18.04, packages:

In Ubuntu 16.04 gvfs and mount worked almost the same speed.

[Bug 1822635] [NEW] Graphical configurator wrongly requires IPv4 Gateway in routes list

2019-04-01 Thread Josef Mašek
Public bug reported:

Valid IPv4 route configuration (in openvpn text configuration) is without
gateway (route is going to the tunnel, so next hop is not required), eg:
route 192.168.32.0 255.255.240.0

This valid configuration works when is imported by nmcli (open VPN tunnel by
nmcli or GUI).
But configuration cannot be saved by GUI (and thus not saved after import),
because GUI require filled Gateway.
Use unfilled Gateway is very useful during openvpn readressing or changing
pools etc. When Gateway is filled, then any changes is often required also all
on clients.
Ps. Sending routes from OVPN server is not implemented on Mikrotik (my case).

Gateway fields.

My versions:
network-manager-openvpn/bionic,now 1.8.2-1 amd64 [installed]
network-manager-openvpn-gnome/bionic,now 1.8.2-1 amd64 [installed]

[Bug 1821783] [NEW] using DOMAIN-ROUTE causes DOMAIN search stop working

2019-03-26 Thread Josef Mašek
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS
Packages:
network-manager-openvpn/bionic,now 1.8.2-1 amd64 [installed]
network-manager-openvpn-gnome/bionic,now 1.8.2-1 amd64 [installed]

openvpn-auth-radius-dbg/bionic 2.1-6build1 amd64
openvpn-systemd-resolved/bionic,now 1.2.7-1 amd64 [installed]

When I use openvpn conf like this:
dhcp-option DOMAIN int.netio.eu
dhcp-option DOMAIN-ROUTE int.netio.eu #do VPN jdou pouze dotazy na
int.netio.eu, zbytek lokalne

search in DOMAIN does not work (e.g. ping home.int.netio.eu).

When I use just:
dhcp-option DOMAIN int.netio.eu

it works almost perfectly (just firs attempt to DNS resolve after VPN
set up will fail, all next attemps are OK, but it is probably another
issue).

[Bug 1700645] Re: gpg-agent not running when needed by Déjà Dup

2018-12-12 Thread Josef Möllers
'morning,
I'm also affected, I'm not sure since when as I only occasionally receive
encrypted emails.

Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS
gpgv 1.4.20-1ubuntu3.3
gnupg-agent 2.1.11-6ubuntu2.1

1) use-agent is active in ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf
2) gpg-agent fails to start due to a missing /run/usr/$UID/gnupg directory
(/run/usr/$UID exists)
3) After repair ("mkdir /run/usr/$UID/gnupg"), gpg-agent starts automagically
with these arguments: --homedir /home/josef/.gnupg --use-standard-socket
--daemon, but still the socket is create in /run/user/UID/gnupg!
4) /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90gpg-agent exists
5) I use KDE (kde-baseapps-bin 4:15.12.3-0ubuntu1, though other KDE packages
are 4:5.5.5-0ubuntu1).

[Bug 1791407] Re: Thinkpad L570 UEFI destroyed after BIOS update

2018-09-22 Thread Josef Raschen
The same for me. I guess the only way to repair it is to flash the chip
from external using SPI (via Raspberry Pi etc.). Unfortunately there are
no images available on the Lenovo website. I would really be great if
Lenovo could release such images. Extracting the image from the UEFI
package also seems not to work with recent Thinkpad UEFI.

[Bug 1791407] [NEW] Thinkpad L570 UEFI destroyed after BIOS update

2018-09-08 Thread Josef Raschen
Public bug reported:

A BIOS/UEFI update was offered via notification on a ThinkPad L570. In
the "Ubuntu Software" tool clicking to start update first seems not to
work as the update always reappeared when clicking the reload button in
the menu bar. After trying this several times, a popup window was shown
and asks to reboot to finish the update. In parallel I was running the
normal "Software Updater" tool so maybe the popup window came from
there. I triggered the reboot, during reboot, on top of the Lenovo-Logo,
some lines of text appeared (I do not remember the content), then the
display went black and the System starts to beep short every 2 or 3
seconds. After about one minute I manually switched off the system via a
5 second press on the power button. Since then the system is dead: Only
the cooling fan is running, the display stays black (no Lenovo logo
etc.), no beep, nothing. So, I think the UEFI was not flashed correctly.

Release: 18.04
System: Lenovo ThinkPad L570 (Model 20J8)

Sorry, in this state of the system I cannot give any more details about
the system (I am not even sure if the fwupd package is involved in
this), but I just wanted to warn so that others do not run into the same
trap.

** Affects: fwupd (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1571854] Re: Recent samba updates broke mapi

2018-07-02 Thread Josef Hopfgartner
Hi,
I'm using:
Ubuntu 18.04
Evolution EWS plugin
Samba/Winbind 4.7.6

Samba is configured as AD domain member of DOMAIN1 via winbind.
Exchange is hosted on DOMAIN2.

Local unix users "testLocal" (user.name@DOMAIN2) get authenticated via
EWS-Plugin.

Winbind users "testDomain" won't get authenticated.

The authentication process asks DOMAIN1 for Exchange user information
and fails.

After "systemctl restart winbind.service" within the running user
session EWS plugin works as expected.

After logout-login cycle winbind.serice has to be restarted again, so
that EWS plugin works.

Seems to be related to kerberos authentication...

[Bug 1775167] Re: libapache2-mod-security2 broken configuration

2018-06-05 Thread Josef Meile
I just found this:
https://github.com/oerdnj/deb.sury.org/issues/714

One comment of jaydrogers suggest to do this:

wget
http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/universe/m/modsecurity-crs/modsecurity-crs_3.0.0-3_all.deb
sudo dpkg -i modsecurity-crs_3.0.0-3_all.deb

It actually fixes the issue, but I guess this should be fixed in the
official package.

[Bug 1775167] [NEW] libapache2-mod-security2 broken configuration

2018-06-05 Thread Josef Meile
Public bug reported:

Dear sirs

I'm trying to install libapache2-mod-security2 (2.9.2-4502xenial) as
follows:

apt-get install libapache2-mod-security2

but I'm getting this error message:

apache2_reload: Your configuration is broken. Not restarting Apache 2
apache2_reload: apache2: Syntax error on line 144 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf:
Syntax error on line 12 of /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/security2.conf: Could not
open configuration file /usr/share/modsecurity-crs/owasp-crs.load: No such file
or directory

Indeed the file:
/usr/share/modsecurity-crs/owasp-crs.load

does not exist. Here line 144 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf:
IncludeOptional mods-enabled/*.conf

Then line 12 of /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/security2.conf:
IncludeOptional /usr/share/modsecurity-crs/owasp-crs.load

So, it is trying to include an nonexistent file and that's why apache
fails to start. Removing libapache2-mod-security2 solves the issue.

I'm having this issue in three servers using: "Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS", so,
it must be something wrong with the package.

Thanks in advanced
Josef Meile

Hello! I have compiled kernel module with patch from
https://lkml.org/lkml/2018/5/8/1117 and I can confirm it works. I'm
attaching related lines from dmesg. Module was loaded via insmod. I'm
using 4.16.1 Kernel.

[Bug 1687000] [NEW] Opera web browser can't play some HTML5 videos after codecs update

2017-04-28 Thread Josef Novak
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS i386.

Opera can't play some HTML5 videos after latest
update of chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra:i386
from version 57.0.2987.98-0ubuntu0.16.04.1276
to version 58.0.3029.81-0ubuntu0.16.04.1277.

For example youtube.com works, while vimeo.com (and many others)
doesn't.

Web sites show various symptoms
- video just doesn't play, black box
- or message about no supported video source / system setup
- or attempt to load Flash version of a player

After manual downgrade back to previous version
(57.0.2987.98-0ubuntu0.16.04.1276) all videos play with no problem.

As the methbuf is used for display only, I have made it large enough to hold

[Bug 1645491] [NEW] Error in Swedish name translation in thunderbird.desktop

2016-11-28 Thread Josef Andersson
Public bug reported:

Hi, I'm involved in translating a lot of GNOME, Ubuntu and other FOSS-
packages to Swedish and as a coordinator for the Swedish Ubuntu
translations. I noticed that the Swedish translation for name ( see file
thunderbird.desktop in the thunderbird source) has an error - instead of

"Name[sv]=E-postklienten Thunderbird"
it should be
"Name[sv]=Thunderbird e-postklient"

to be in line with most other FOSS-translations to Swedish, and to be

If someone could correct this error I'd be grateful (and please take it

[Bug 1014159] Re: update-grub error: physical volume pv0 not found.

2016-07-15 Thread Josef Möllers
With the modification mentioned above, a kernel upgrade does not produce the
error message any mode.
Maybe "vgextend" or "pvcreate" should make sure the device is in the
"device.map"?

[Bug 1014159] Re: update-grub error: physical volume pv0 not found.

2016-07-11 Thread Josef Möllers
In my case the problem was that my "pv0" device was not in
"/boot/grub/device.map".
Once I added
(hd3) /dev/sdd
the error disappeared, but this error now appears:
grub-probe: error: unknown filesystem.

Ok, never mind.
It was just for deployment purposes by customer but we already solved it.
You are right I use directly pg repos and for plv8 google repo.
And if someone other does not complain about missing package it's probably ok.
Thanks anyway

[Bug 1522278] Re: No useable GPU found [Ubuntu 15.10 - AMD R9 280]

2015-12-12 Thread Josef Andersson
I did that. Didnt work.
I read in some forums,
did
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libOpenCL.so.1 libOpenCL.so

didnt work

Did

sudo gedit /etc/default/boinc-client

and add

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/lib64:/usr/lib:/lib:/usr/local/lib
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH

Didnt work.

Did
 xhost local:boinc
and
sudo aticonfig --initial=check

WORK!!

I dont know if it was an combination of the above or the last two fixes that
did it, but now it works.

[Bug 1522278] [NEW] No useable GPU found [Ubuntu 15.10 - AMD R9 280]

2015-12-02 Thread Josef Andersson
Public bug reported:

Ive been running Boinc for years on the same hw with Ubuntu and AMD-
cards, it has always found the GPUs. I updated from Ubuntu 14.04 to
15.04 and to 15.10 and now it only says. No useable GPUs found in the
log.

I verified that I use the latest AMD-drivers from -updates-repository.
I also tried using LotusOfBorgs Boinc-ppa
https://launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/ubuntu/locutusofborg-ppa
to see if the problem would disappear with a newer boinc-version, but no.
I read that I might have to restart boinc after login for it to find the GPUs,
but it doesnt help.

After some searching I notice A LOT of people seems to be asking about
this problem, for many years, and there doesnẗ seem to be a standard
solution. How come this can be such a hard bug/problem to solve? Any
ideas how I can fix it on my setup?

[Bug 1502568] Re: Missing SV translation from package

2015-10-04 Thread Josef Andersson
Think I found the bug: Under folder locale in the package, see file Makefile.am.
The locale dirs lists all langue dirs. For Swedish it's listed as sv_SE which
was changed in boinc to just sv quite a while ago. (see
http://lists.ssl.berkeley.edu/pipermail/boinc_loc/2015-March/002435.html )
So Makefile.am wont ever copy it.

[Bug 1502529] [NEW] Non translateable header "Upgrading Ubuntu to version "

2015-10-03 Thread Josef Andersson
Public bug reported:

When starting an upgrade to a new Ubuntu version (i tried from 15.04 to
15.10), there's a string that isn't translated, even though the
translation states update-manager is 100% percent translated (in
Swedish) for the affected versions. The string is the header "Upgrading
Ubuntu to version ", see picture attached.

[Bug 1410406] Re: black screen after booting, 100% cpu usage

2015-03-27 Thread Josef Jedlicka
I can confirm this error in Xubuntu 15.04. The error is in deed fixed by
installing updates. However the issue appears again with multiple monitors.
If you click anywhere the login window will be displayed. This issue is fixed
by inserting

active-monitor=0 on the end of file /etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-
greeter.conf
