[Bug 1254131] Re: [Dell Latitude D505] Lubuntu suspend via lid close causes freeze
I'm afraid that's way over my head. Furthermore, since I'm not sure when the freeze started to occur, I may as well waste a lot of effort for nothing. The workaround seems to do its job although I would like to be able to choose whether I want to just turn off screen or suspend the laptop when I close the lid. There seems to be a way to avoid laptop lid freeze. I'm using Lubuntu 14.04 and it utilises Xfce power manager. When it is used to monitor power events, lid close always freezes the laptop. However, when you install acpi-support the freeze no longer happens but the screen remains on when the lid is closed. If you just want to power off your screen when closed, go to Xfce power manager settings and choose 'nothing' in the 'when laptop lid is closed' field. If you want your laptop to suspend when the lid is closed, you need to exit Xfce power manager to let acpi-support handle the event. So the key seems to be to install acpi-support to avoid freeze. Good luck and please post what power manager you are using. This is unbelievable! It no longer works so the freeze is back again. I didn't change anything, it just worked for some time and now it reverted back to old behaviour. If I suspend the laptop using the suspend menu entry or CRTL+ESC button first, wake it up properly and after that close the lid, the hang doesn't happen. That could explain why I thought I had found a workaround before. I must have suspended the laptop using keyboard shortcuts and then the lid close worked fine which led me to believe that I had found the solution to the problem. I have tried many times the procedure before and I'm confident the behaviour is persistent. Suspend the laptop using suspend menu or keyboard shortcut first - lid close NO freeze no matter how many times afterwards I suspend it and wake it up. I reboot the laptop and close the lid - freeze occurs. Using the latest rc2 kernel, adding 1gb of swap and disabling swap (swapoff /dev/zram0) now when I try to hibrate, system just logs me out. I did sudo dpkg --purge zram-config. Rebooted and verified that there is no zram used (cat/proc/swaps just shows /mnt/swap of 1gb). Hi I'm using Lubuntu and when I added Lubuntu daily ppa for updating my pcmanfm and other packages, I started getting this error: Processing triggers for menu ... /usr/share/menu/lxrandr: missing required tag: section Skipping file because of errors... [Bug 697694] Re: Lubuntu installation crashes
Hello everyone I encountered the same problem when installing lubuntu 11.04. I solved it by erasing all partitions with gparted live cd and installing minimal install .iso from usb drive. All my subsequent experiences with lubuntu are axcellent.
