I have just upgraded to 10.10. And this very very annoying bug is still
here !
You can not class a bug as fixed just because it affects only french
scriving people with an ime. This bug makes emacs useless to write
french/japanese xelatex file. Please do *fix* it !

This is a very ennoying bug for me it prevents me from editing xelatex

I type quite a bit of japanese each day so I am also very much ennoyed (more
over this problem appears also with french characters like ê).
I got a small turn-around that allege the problem a bit :

I am a desktop user, it was not difficult to compile a new kernel with
usb_suspend disabled and get the scanner to work. But I do think that Ubuntu
SHOULD provide an alternative kernel to all users who need it.

I have the same trouble on a Packard-Bell computer and a Epson perfection 1670.
Was working perfectly under edgy, now must be root to find the scanner, then
scanimage -L and xane as user will work but sometimes I/O err with scanner.
Works with another computer.

As a consequence of this bug, any program that needs to choose a directory
can't work properly.
This is really a serious bug that render installation of QT4 packages (versus
compilation by hand) almost worthless.
Please, upgrade the packages!

This is the way I can reproduce the bug
Open a gnome connexion for a user. Open another one for another user with
openbox. Soon enaugh, firefox display in the second connexion becomes blurry, a
