2020-07-16 Thread leder
Thank you, Sebastien.

I am uncertain of what to do:
- nautilus does not crash, but freeze for some seconds
- I have two crashes for packages, that do not have a "-dbg" package available
- I attach the two crash files

All the best

2020-07-11 Thread leder
Public bug reported:

test steps:
- mouunt samba share w/:
smb://host/share
- open local disc w/ personal folder
- scroll directory e. g. w/ show hidden files enabled in order to get a long
list

expected result:
directory scrolls up and down

actual result:
scrolling freezes for some seconds before scrolling completes:
- no directory selection appears until after freeze is over
- only selection possible is the mounted samba share, which returns to the top
level directory of the share

[Bug 1750215] [NEW] kernel 4.0.13-32-generic does not boot after initramfs

2018-02-17 Thread leder
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

I do not know where to file hardware related kernel bugs, so I did
choose grub2 package.

after update to ubuntu 17.10 the latest kernel mentioned above will not
default boot. the old distribution kernel 4.10 is fine and recovery
kernel does perform, too.

I have disk encryption and the affected kernel does not go further than
initramfs, i. e. there is not decryption password screen. in 4.10 there
is graphical decryption screen and in recovery kernel there is CLI
decryption prompt.

I want to boot current 4.13 kernel with all security features!

Hurray, I saw Orca Settings once! But insert+space does not react
anymore. Additionally keyboard shortcuts for switching orca on/off is
not responding immediately, when screen is read.

Where does orca log to? I did not see logs in var/log...

OK. After reboot speech is back again. F1 key has Ubuntu help, when in
settings. and orca-key+F1 has no effect.

In settings of 14.04 lts I changed keyboard activation to on and orca-
key works with space and F1.

Same not true for 16.04 lts.

I cannot test further, now the screenreader does not turn on at all and
logging out and in does not change it.

The screenreader does not talk anymore, which it previously did.
The Process of orca is availabe:

Do you have any clue what happened?

2013-12-18 Thread leder
Hello Christoph,

I am sorry, but I cannot retest the entered bug. Because of the continuing
failure I switched hardware for an AMD A10 board. Now Ubuntu Linux works
fine.

Thanks and best regards

2013-10-16 Thread leder
I have no solution to this proposal yet. But there is one resource
covering Samsung MFP: http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Samsung-Laserdrucker

I will try this one with next release of saucy salamander.

2013-10-16 Thread leder
This bug is in ubuntu 12.04. I added tag 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream',
because of error persisting in kernel 3.12.0-rc5.

Report was already marked as "Confirmed".

[Bug 1239672] Re: amd64: "Fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed!" Edit

2013-10-15 Thread leder
Additional bug hint:
the bootup error message repeatedly occured after reboot for a fresh installed
new kernel.

The next thing I try is setting the module k10temp to disable by
removing:

--
Confirm that the sensor is in fact valid and reliable. If it is, can edit
/etc/modprobe.d/k10temp.conf and add:

options k10temp force=1

This will allow the module to load at boot.
_ (Source:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/lm_sensors#K10Temp_Module)

This option is now set to zero!

I will update you soon if error persists.

** Tags added: apport-collected precise running-unity

** Description changed:

I would like to reenter this bug, described in #1177086.

The bootup hangs with the error mentioned in the summary.

after five minutes the booting is possible again. I suspect heating to
  be the problem.

Because module k10temp reports difficulties with the amd2+ socket/cpu.
This is known to the kernel devolpers.

The tool sensors reports temperatures of 60°C+ before the initiated
  reboot hangs!

See output of successful reboot and tool sensors:
  -
  k10temp-pci-00c3

 (crit = +79.0°C, hyst = +77.0°C)

I will initiate an "apport-collect" and "ubuntu-bug linux" after
  successful reboot now.

  Thanks all

[Bug 1027887] [NEW] hfsplus Kernel module crashes

2012-07-23 Thread David Leder
Public bug reported:

After some weeks of a mounted USB mass storage device, the hfsplus
Kernel module crashes, leaving the file system half-mounted, but not
unmountable, as there were processes in the mounted directory tree.

I don't know if the root cause was a bug in updatedb, but a kernel
module should never crash on userland process investigation.

I don't think the file system was perfectly clear:
[1700207.162684] hfs: inconsistency in B*Tree (1,0,1,0,2620)

But the crash is quite a few times later:

Here's the stack trace:

[Bug 786497] Re: cups: samsung clx-3175 w/ muddy dark color printing

2011-08-07 Thread leder
Thanks Pascal,

directory icm did not exists. I created it and run the command. Now the two
files are in it:
- samclp300-0.icm
- samclp315-argyll-0.icm

The test page before and after I restarted cups are the same color.

How can I test the color profiles I have installed now?

[Bug 784784] Re: No sound in natty w/ HDA ATI SB on IEC 958

2011-07-16 Thread leder
confirmed that audio is working with driver nv activated!

Though "additional drivers" program detects nv as "activated, but not in
use"!

Now sound via DVI/HDMI is o. k. with stereo configuration.

[Bug 784784] Re: No sound in natty w/ HDA ATI SB on IEC 958

2011-07-05 Thread leder
It seems to me that this is a nouveau graphics driver issue and that nv
(proprietary nvidia driver) has a HDMI Audio component.
Nouveau seems to have no HDMI Audio driver capabilities.

Should this bug be redirected to package nouveau?

There is now in Ubuntu 11.04 no sound via digital output of a Soundcard
"HDA ATI SB" with chip Realtek ALC889A.

I expected to have stereo sound output via IEC 958 HDMI connection. This
was happening in Ubuntu 10.04.

Bug confirmed, Kubuntu 11.04 64-bit. My 'workaround' is to use the non-
gui version.

[Bug 312403] Re: Lenovo ideapad S10 internal microphone doesn't work

2009-08-16 Thread Björn Leder
I should add, that I did not alter /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base(.conf).

Also the update procedure for Alsa is explained on their wiki:
http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/Quick_Install.

[Bug 312403] Re: Lenovo ideapad S10 internal microphone doesn't work

2009-08-16 Thread Björn Leder
I am running Kubuntu 9.04 on a S10. Updating Alsa to 1.0.20 solved the
problem for me. After the update you can add additional channels to
kmix: 'Capture' and 'Input Source'. The first one has to enabled and the
second one can be used to switch between internal and external mic. Both
of them are working now with Skype.
