2010-03-06 Thread libertarian
Kernel Update to 2.6.31-20 fixed it for me. No need to temper with gstreamer. I'm using Bios revision 10B. Maybe that is the reason for it working for some and not for others? @Eamon Collins: Which bios revision do you use? -- regression: uvcvideo module makes cannot reset port error on usb

@Michael: He :) The camera works with Cheese without a hitch. lsusb shows that the USB-ports continue working after activating the camera via Fn-F6 and a mounted USB-stick keeps on working, too. Although If I remember correctly the camera once did this even before I installed the new Kernel.

It is not fixed! I have just checked the update manager from the administration menu and it doesn't show any updates with regard to this problem. I don't think that an end-user friendly distribution should expect users to enable repositories containing proposed software. I certainly didn't

I think this answer is not sufficient. As far as I know Konqueror or Dolphin allowed a slash-character in filenames some time ago when I was using them. I suppose they did use the fraction slash (Unicode 0x2044). Why not changing the slash to the fraction slash automatically instead of showing
