Timo, I just tried the package from natty-proposed as the only update
from proposed and it works nicely with Ubuntu Classic (gnome2), Ubuntu
(unity).

Kernel Update to 2.6.31-20 fixed it for me. No need to temper with
gstreamer.
I'm using Bios revision 10B. Maybe that is the reason for it working for some
and not for others?

The camera works with Cheese without a hitch.
lsusb shows that the USB-ports continue working after activating the camera via
Fn-F6 and a mounted USB-stick keeps on working, too.
Although If I remember correctly the camera once did this even before I
installed the new Kernel.

I have just checked the update manager from the administration menu and it
doesn't show any updates with regard to this problem. I don't think that an
end-user friendly distribution should expect users to enable repositories
containing proposed software. I certainly didn't

After closing the lid the notebook went to stand-by but didn't wake-up properly
since I didn't get the login window which asks for the password. It just gave
me a black display with switched on backlight.
