[Bug 1905062] [NEW] Format device does nothing in nautilus

2020-11-20 Thread linex83
Public bug reported:

I have two different external USB hard drives attached. Each of them has
just one partition. The devices/partitions are visible in nautilus on
the left hand side. I want to format them, so I do a right click on the
device/partition in nautilus and select "Format...". In response,
NOTHING happens. It's the same thing with both partitions. My
expectation would be that a window opens allowing me for different
options of formatting, like file system type and encryption options.

[Bug 1861746] [NEW] moving the "Account Settings" window makes the main window shrink and move along in the background

2020-02-03 Thread linex83
Public bug reported:

I start my thunderbird and maximize the main window. Then I open
"Account Settings". This shows the new settings window that is smaller
than the main window (see screenshot "before.png"). This is fine just
like that. But when I start moving the settings window around (by
clicking the top window bar), the main window is being resized to a very
small size, such that it is not visible behind the settings window.
Moreover, it seems to move along with the settings window. When I close
the settings, I can see the very small main window (see screenshot
"after.png").

I actually don't think this is a thunderbird problem, it is probably
something more general. I remember having a similar issue with the
LibreOffice options in Ubuntu 18.04.

[Bug 1810855] [NEW] owncloud-client running on GNOME asks to open kdewallet every time and always fails

2019-01-07 Thread linex83
Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu 18.10. When I start owncloud-client, it always asks
for the password to open kdewallet (see screenshot 01.png). No matter
what password I give, it can never open (see screenshot 02.png).

A workaround is to run KWalletManager, which says "The wallet is
currently closed" and click "Open" there. After that owncloud-client
starts without asking for the password.

The expected behaviour for me would be that owncloud-client does not ask
to connect to kwallet at all, since I'm running GNOME. But if it does,
it should at least be able to actually open kwallet.

[Bug 1760818] Re: gedit and gnome-calculator transparency/graphics corruption issue when GTK_IM_MODULE=xim is set

2018-08-19 Thread linex83
Following-up on my previous comment, the problem did come back, even
though it was gone at first after I switched to ibus and then back to
xim. Now I switched to ibus and restarted, the problem is gone. So I'm
not switching back to xim, as I suspect the problem would reappear again
then.

2018-08-16 Thread linex83
I experienced this bug today. Restart didn't help initially. Then I
changed the Input Method from xim to ibus and the problem was gone.
Changing back to xim did not bring the problem back. I'm confused that
it worked. Would be nice if somebody else could try the same.

I did not install any new packages, neither did I re-install any
packages.

[Bug 1722118] [NEW] No feedback on failed OpenVPN connection

2017-10-08 Thread linex83
Public bug reported:

I imported an OpenVPN configuration file. This worked fine. However,
when I tried to connect to my OpenVPN server, the connection didn't
work. This wasn't obvious though, since the network manager menu
disappears right after clicking "Connect". Indeed, the connection
couldn't possibly work, since I didn't copy the CA and the TA files.
After copying those files next to the config file, the connection
succeeded. However, again, without any feedback, except for the changing
icon in the systray.

My minimal expectation would be to see an error message when the
connection fails for whatever reason.

I have further issues with network manager or the openvpn plugin:
- I don't like that the menu disappears right away, this does not provide
sufficient feedback to the user on the success of his operation.
- I don't like that the network manager does not automatically suggest to
install the openvpn plugin when trying to import openvpn config files.

[Bug 1697149] [NEW] KDE user-manager does not show all users

2017-06-10 Thread linex83
Public bug reported:

Running Kubuntu 17.04, I logged in, opened the start menu, typed "user"
and opened the "User Manager". There I created the user "overlord", set
the password, chose a user picture and marked the user as an
administrator. The following /etc/passwd entry was created:

overlord:x:1001:1001:overlord:/home/overlord:/bin/bash

Now when I open the User Manager, my new user overlord is not shown. He
has also the wrong picture, not the one that I've chosen when I created
the user.

Sorry, xorg is certainly nonsense... I just ran "ubuntu-bug" and
selected "Other problem". As all the following options where related to
display problem, I selected "I don't know". That's how I ended up filing
it against xorg.

[Bug 1695987] [NEW] "Unknown option: proto udp6" error on openvpn import in KDE network manager

2017-06-05 Thread linex83
Public bug reported:

I created an openvpn config file, which I could successfully run on
command line. However, as I tried importing the file with the KDE
network manager, I got the following error message:

"Unknown option: proto udp6"

Since the openvpn command could process the config file without
problems, I think the network manager should be able to do that, too.

Here's my openvpn client config file:

[Bug 1695983] [NEW] Removing an imported openvpn connection doesn't clean up copied certificates

2017-06-05 Thread linex83
Public bug reported:

I imported an openvpn connection with the KDE network manager, which
worked fine. On import I was asked whether I want my certificates to be
copied to .local/share/networkmanagement, which I confirmed. Them I
removed my connection and reimported it again, this time receiving the
following error message:

"Error copying certificate to
/home/user/.local/share/networkmanagement/certificates/myopenvpn.key:
Destination file exists"

Seems like copied certificates aren't cleaned up when an openvpn
connection is removed.

[Bug 1631104] Re: The LimitNPROC line in /lib/systemd/system/openvpn@.service has to be commented out in order to be able to start OpenVPN

2016-10-16 Thread linex83
I'm having the very same problem and a quick search reveals that there
are more people out there experiencing this. My workaround was not to
uncomment the line in the original file located in /lib, but to create
an superseding config:

sudo systemctl edit openvpn@server

Then increasing the limit:

[Service]
LimitNPROC=100

However, it's just a workaround.

[Bug 1228785] Re: cryptkeeper crashed with SIGSEGV in __libc_start_main()

2015-09-17 Thread linex83
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1245621 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1245621

This bug is present in Ubuntu 14.04. The problem occurs when starting
cryptkeeper. It also occurs rather often, in my case around 50% of all
cases. When running on console, the only output I get is:

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I'd be happy to provide more details and a stack trace, just let me know
how to do it. Would be nice to see this fixed, as cryptkeeper is a great
program.

2014-05-10 Thread linex83
Public bug reported:

I created a bookmark in nautilus to access a server via sftp. When I'm

[Bug 1318124] Re: nautilus does not recall sftp password across user sessions

2014-05-10 Thread linex83
Btw, I didn't have this problem in Ubuntu 12.04. However, the UI was
also a bit different there, so I guess things have changed in nautilus,
possibly introducing this bug.

[Bug 603886] Re: kubuntu loads forever on start from install disk

2010-10-30 Thread linex83
This seems to be a general Ubuntu problem and is not related to Kubuntu
alone. By now I tried all Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Xubuntu, i386 and amd64
versions. However, I succeeded installing Ubuntu 10.10 amd64 using the
ALTERNATE installer. Thus my best guess is that the problem is related
to the graphics system somehow. Here is the lspci output for my graphics
card:

03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G73 [GeForce 7600
GS] (rev a1)
