I copied the specified firmware. Restart the computer.
Successfully connected to wifi, but then nothing works.
Maximum that was possible - it will connect via ssh to my local server
for a while - then the connection broken.

I filed the bug against Karmic, not Lucid. I just tried to reproduce it
on Lucid, and now gimp runs fine with ttf-sil-doulos/ttf-sazanami-gothic
installed. Presumably whatever bug I was seeing was fixed upstream in
pango between Karmic and Lucid.

After upgrading karmic to lucid, I booted into a gdm screen with no
login controls. I was able to switch virtual terminals, and exchanged
gdm for xdm, which allowed me to log in graphically. However, all gtk+
apps would segfault on run, which left me with no window manager,
I've just done the Device Manager in Windows XP. I've disabled all empty
unused USB Host Controllers and my Floppy Drive. I have ubuntu 9.10 -
i386 desktop as a mounted ISO to the U:/ drive. It installs and works
without errors.

I had this, as well as dozens of other bugs when updating from feisty to
gutsy. After some googling, I found this:

Apparently this was a problem with upgrading to feisty as well. The

Hi I've got the exact same scenario but I've isntalled 7.04 as a clean install.
This seems to be quite a common problem throughout the Ubuntu forums the PS2
