[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share
Wow! the speed and the look of the new Ubuntu 7.04 is nice. But there is something wrong with the Wireless Network Adapter Drivers, it does not authenticate the connection. I get an error about Atheros being/using an incomparable driver. However, after long hours of configuration and figuring out the right Wireless Card=comparable chipset on wireless device, it's not longer an issue with Ubuntu 6.06. So therefor, why would I want to deal with that issue all over again with Ubuntu 7.04? The big question is; wasn't the new version suppose to fix the wireless card drivers comparability issues and make easy for wireless configuration/detection? I am confused! My personal opinion is that this is the biggest set back with Ubuntu, EUs with laptops and their other devices are not going to be bother with drivers incomparability. This will result in going back to the early days of MSW; when we/EUs spent hours searching and figuring out drivers from the Internet for hardware. Why would anybody want to choose to go back, instead of forward? Learn from MSW Vista, is not moving off the shelves as Daddy had conjectured, because of the outrageous price tag and its applications/drivers incomparability. -- Microsoft has a majority market share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Dear Conrad Knauer, This is regarding your reply to my previous comments and to proof to you, that this is not a BUG! “How is it a choice when people can't easily buy a prebuilt system locally without an OS or with a free OS preinstalled? (Observe that a majority of PCs for sale have non-free software pre-installed.)” I can built you all PCs you need without OS; and better yet with UBUNTU or any LINUX Distros, where do you want them, how many do you want ship! [Bug 83888] PCI wireless card!
This is one of the strangest things happening with Ubuntu systems: I have installed a wireless card=(Belkin F5D7000) on a desktop system, the card and drivers are present. The unit is running without further issues and the drivers were available automatically, no pain! I have Built another Ubuntu system, almost the same configuration; but different MoBo and the very same card is not present at all. The card is not the issue or defective, because it has been tested. My big question is the inconsistency behind the driver data base. Can someone please, tell me, which PCI wireless manufacture is Ubuntu friendly? I thought Belkin was, as I, had tested their product, I do not understand the nature of this issue. It should either work or not! Is it the MoBo? Because, I doubt that belkin will manufacture one card with Linux/Ubuntu drivers and not the other one. Please, if anyone has any information about this issues send me some information. I have tried just about all I can to install all the wireless drivers and packages included in the SPM and nothing works. Also, I have follow directions from advices listed on browser searches and the only thing I get after installing their recommended packages and other programs, is for the system to get corrupted. :( Please help! -- internet sites https://launchpad.net/bugs/83888 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share
Microsoft has a majority market share because MS provides drivers for almost all the existing devices, specially printers. With Linux/Ubuntu the printer drivers do not work; so how can you expect EUs to adapt to something that it's not fully functional? People will always have to depend on the money driven MS for that particular reason; but I can assure you that as soon as Linux starts providing universal support for all these devices and on line streaming features, then it will be the end of the Money Driven Empire. Lets face it, Ubuntu has come a long way and we should be thankful for it, I am! With that said, only you can make it a difference by educating the rest of the world about Linux/Ubuntu, forget about the U.S.A. they love they stock prices go up! Start by educate the developing Countries and have them move to Linux/Ubuntu today and then you will see a tremendous difference. -- Microsoft has a majority market share https://launchpad.net/bugs/1 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 67467] Re: OS keeps logging me out
Your possible solutions are incorrect, the system has come back up after 10 attempts. I am using a desktop with a RADION video card. The same problem has happened to someone else, and it has been confirmed that the system is doing this at random. This is what happened; the user ID text and password come up then the desktop is displayed briefly and goes back again to prompt for the user ID and password. -- OS keeps logging me out https://launchpad.net/bugs/67467 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 67467] OS keeps logging me out
Public bug reported: I am having problems with my OS. I logged into the system from a proper shutdown, i entered the correct user id and password, then the desktop appears on the screen briefly, but then it goes off. This keeps happening and it won't let me use the system, the monitor goes off to prompt me back again to logging because something is kicking me out. The same happened in the past and I had to re-installed the OS once again thinking it was an isolated case. It's now obvious that it's not an isolated case, it's happening once again after the same time has passed from the initial set up. Can somebody tell me what is causing the problem or an alternate way to access the system? ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- OS keeps logging me out https://launchpad.net/bugs/67467 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
