When Setting up a new VPNC connection through the GUI there is no option
to specify a search domain.
After you click save and go into the config file there is an empty
option specified there where you can manually add it and do a sudo
service network-manager restart

I can't believe it either, this bug is over a year old... and no one
picks it up, I'm not a software dev, but if you post your problem I'll
take a look to see if I can spot the problem.
