Same problem with gutsy, the ppa package seems to have solved the
problem.

[Bug 25896] Re: After hibernate, sound doesn't work

2007-05-15 Thread oSoMoN
I experience the same bug since my migration to Feisty (it worked in
Dapper and Edgy): sound does not work after hibernating, the only
working solution is to reboot the machine.

My machine is an Acer laptop, Extensa 4102WLMi.

[Bug 25896] Re: After hibernate, sound doesn't work

2007-05-15 Thread oSoMoN
Found a kind of workaround to the problem: after resuming from
hibernated state, sound does not work. I then suspend to ram and resume,
and sound is back.

Not that this is a satisfactory solution, but might be useful in
understanding the reason of the problem...

Hope this helps.

[Bug 58171] Re: Connection to ICE-unix/.. socket times out so programs take minutes to start

2007-03-30 Thread oSoMoN
The same bug sometimes happens to me at unpredictable moments.
When it does, most of the programs I try to launch hang in the same way.
Running a strace on them show exactly the same problem ; reading from a socket
times out after ages:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ strace gnome-terminal

execve(/usr/bin/gnome-terminal, [gnome-terminal], [/* 34 vars */]) =
0

[...]

connect(10, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path=/tmp/.ICE-unix/9600}, 21) = 0
fcntl64(10, F_SETFD, FD_CLOEXEC)= 0
write(10, \0\1\0\0\0\0\0\0, 8)= 8
read(10,

...hanged.

[Bug 50599] Re: Regressions with upgrade from kernel 2.6.15-23 to 2.6.15-25

2006-06-29 Thread oSoMoN
Well it seems that after all this was not linked to the new kernel, rather to
Gnome and/or GTK.
After an update, everything is back to normal. The following packages were
upgraded:

gtk2-engines-pixbuf 2.8.18-0ubuntu1 - 2.8.18-0ubuntu2
libgtk2.0-0 2.8.18-0ubuntu1 - 2.8.18-0ubuntu2
libgtk2.0-bin 2.8.18-0ubuntu1 - 2.8.18-0ubuntu2
libgtk2.0-common 2.8.18-0ubuntu1 - 2.8.18-0ubuntu2
libgtk2.0-doc 2.8.18-0ubuntu1 - 2.8.18-0ubuntu2

2006-06-21 Thread oSoMoN
Forgot to mention that on the other hand, 3D accelerated rendering works
as fine as with 2.6.15-23 : using fglrx, fgl_glxgears gives an average
framerate of 700fps.

[Bug 50599] Regressions with upgrade from kernel 2.6.15-23 to 2.6.15-25

2006-06-21 Thread oSoMoN
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-25-686

After upgrading to kernel 2.6.15-25 on my laptop (Acer Extensa 4102WLMI, ATI
mobility Radeon X700), all the graphical effects in gnome are very slow and the
playback of videos (any file type and DVDs) is very slow as well.
Seems to be the same type of issue as reported here:
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=1158244postcount=82 (DVD and video
playback is choppy / jerky and when you start an app from the panel, there's
this short little animation of an extending frame, this animation needs almost
2 seconds to finish and is jerky as well).
Browsing the forums seems to show that the new kernel has a lot of various
issues, while falling back to 2.6.15-23 works perfectly fine.

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Untriaged
 Status: Unconfirmed
