My issue is compounded by the fact that Ubuntu registers no network
interfaces in Ubuntu on vmwareplayer in NAT mode and it sees a
connection but can't connect in bridged mode. As a result I can't apply
updates on install or upgrade my NVIDIA drivers which may help resolve

to boot my computer, i just get a blank screen, that occasionally flickers with

Version 1.1.3 crashes for me, too (access violation). The crash happens
when scanning is performed. If launched from command line with parameter
--no-scan, it does not crash. However, you cannot do anything useful.
When you start a manual scan, it crashes immediately. Also, smartctl
works fine...
Rumor has it that the my USB ports powered by an AMD chipset might be
the culprit. I have no clue whatsoever how this could be fixed in
software, but I am now waiting for a PCIe USB card with a different
chipset to check if there's a (preliminary) fix in hardware at least.

This has been reported on the ansible module side as well as it impacts
the ability to configure ufw on Ubuntu 20.04.02 LTS servers. ufw is
essentially unusable because of this bug.

I have a similar issue using a FUSE mount (gocryptfs) - however it is
not resolved by @elinde's patch, though I'm grateful for the pointer in
the right direction.
In my case the volume `path` mounted is
`/usr/bin/gocryptfs#/home/%(USER).cipher` in `pam_mount.conf.xml`, and
this corresponds to
