[Bug 2058191] Re: Getting SIGSEGV and SIGILL in many programs
Reading my crash dump, i noticed a interesting thing. Here is the back trace: Downloading separate debug info for system-supplied DSO at 0x7ffe5ecc5000 Core was generated by `/opt/brave.com/brave/brave --type=renderer --crashpad-handler-pid=5837 --enable'. Program terminated with signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. #0 0x58e16cb3b49e in ?? () [Current thread is 1 (LWP 1)] (gdb) bt #0 0x58e16cb3b49e in ?? () #1 0x7ffe5ec93780 in ?? () #2 0x in ?? () The first backtrace is located inside the brave binary as (gdb) info proc mappings says: Mapped address spaces: Start Addr End Addr Size Offset objfile [...] 0x58e16bb4b000 0x58e1778ad000 0xbd62000 0x2e1c000 /opt/brave.com/brave/brave [...] The second backtrace doesn't show in the mapped address list. But as the previous output says it's related to a "system-supplied DSO". I Googled it and a guy named fche on stackoverflow said "system-supplied-DSO means a shared library provided directly by the linux kernel such as VDSO". Is this right? Is there some way we could provide some financial support to address this specific issue? How can Firefox claim to be all about Privacy, Security and Speed when it doesn't support the greatest improvement we have ever had to all of those things when it comes to logins? [Bug 1878279] Re: MSFT0004:00 06CB:CD98 Touchpad/trackpad mouse randomly not recognized from any given boot
Regarding my previous post what happened is that the touchpad started to work again out of the blue. Before this the system had difficulties to shutdown. The shutdwown process lasted for minutes and during that the system displayed a message "i2c_designware AMDI0010:00: controller times out". This lasted for a long time. So long that I had time to take a photo of it which is attached. Eventually the system managed to shutdown and now I that I turned on the system the touchpad works again. [Bug 1878279] Re: MSFT0004:00 06CB:CD98 Touchpad/trackpad mouse randomly not recognized from any given boot
Thanks for the instructions. So I added the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pci=nocrs" and updated grub. I rebooted the machine at least five times and the touchpad never worked - I had to use an external mouse. This is a bit different in a sense that this seems to be consistent whereas usually the touchpad completely randomly works every now and then. I think I will keep the settings as they are just to see if the touchpad randomly starts to work again. I mean the position of the moon might have an effect on this ;-) Let me know if I can be of any help in further testing. [Bug 1921156] Re: cannot upgrade kernel on ssd booting raspberry pi 3b
Yes, thanks for this. Even whilst posting I had the feeling it would be something like that because of a similar wobbly installing the 64bit ubuntu on a pi 4, when followed with ssd transfer. Probably due to /boot/firmware not being a thing for ubuntu generally but only for raspberry pis? I think there's possibly a dodgy article out there - with a script to automate the job of moving to ssd - which used to be applicable (before /boot/firmware was introduced) but is no longer so? Which is a shame because it was only somebody trying to be helpful. So the relevant fstabbery /dev/sda1 on /boot/firmware type vfat (rw,relatime,fmask=0022,dmask=0022,codepage=437,iocharset=ascii,shortname=mixed,errors =remount-ro) and kernelimgconfity do_symlinks = yes do_bootloader = no link_in_boot = yes being restored to 'normal' (for a pi) fixes everything. I daresay there may be some unsettled dust remaining in the /boot and /boot/firmware directories but the kernel installation does seem to do an awful lot of backing up and maybe tidying up is part of it. Thanks again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1921156 Title: cannot upgrade kernel on ssd booting raspberry pi 3b To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi/+bug/1921156/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1921156] [NEW] cannot upgrade kernel on ssd booting raspberry pi 3b
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS Release:20.04 linux-image-5.4.0-1029-raspi: Installed: 5.4.0-1029.32 Candidate: 5.4.0-1029.32 Version table: *** 5.4.0-1029.32 500 500 http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports focal-updates/main armhf Packages 500 http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports focal-security/main armhf Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I gather it's something to do with /boot partition having to be vfat and you cannot do symlinks there. But I don't know what to do about it. There was some post about editing /etc/kernel-img.conf but all that seemed to do was to kick the problem down the road to where a different link couldn't be made. Slightly confusing as there appear to be two tickets about this in my 'area', both with the same id (#1915409), one tagged just 'Ubuntu' and the other tagged 'Ubuntu Groovy' and both referring to raspi4 64bit, both posted on same day (presumably when I'd been checking the installation and my reacting to error popups whilst desktop was starting - seems likely more than once). I'm happy to say that this installation failure of linux-image-5.8.0-1015-raspi 5.8.0-1015.18 has gone away and that the apt update/upgrade is no longer seeing any of this. However, I'm getting something similar on an almost contemporaneous install of raspi3 32bit focal-fossa which is not going away. Turns up every time I update/upgrade. [Bug 1809972] Re: Samsung SSD 750 EVO doesn't support queued TRIM command
This also happens on the brand new Samsung 870 EVO. And based on https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203475 and https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201693 a variety of other Samsung 8* devices on a wide variety of SATA controllers (it doesn't seem controller related). At the very least, the upstream change https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=ca6bfcb2f6d9deab3924bf901e73622a94900473 is wrong and really needs to be rolled back... And adjusted further given this issue was filed for a 750 which that change didn't even cover. The patch attached to this issue does exactly that. [Bug 1913061] Re: systemd-coredump not available for systemd 245.4-4ubuntu3.2
Okay, turns out it wasn't really a bug... Sorry! I had managed to remove the focal-updates repository from my sources, and therefore didn't get the latest version of the package... Sorry for the inconvenience, this can be closed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1913061 Title: systemd-coredump not available for systemd 245.4-4ubuntu3.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1913061/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1913061] [NEW] systemd-coredump not available for systemd 245.4-4ubuntu3.2
Public bug reported: Hi, I am trying to install systemd-coredump, but it fails with the following error message: Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: systemd-coredump : Depends: systemd (= 245.4-4ubuntu3) E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. Following discussion on my question i am opening a bug report (link to question: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+question/695171) As far as i understand i have a version of systemd for which no systemd- coredump exists (or is at least not specified). It seems like this wasn't necessary for many users that had an older version of systemd- coredump installed and simply held the older package, but leads to this error if systemd-coredump has not been previously installed. Thanks a lot, Georg ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1913061 Title: systemd-coredump not available for systemd 245.4-4ubuntu3.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1913061/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1873439] Re: Logitech BRIO webcam fails with "xhci_hcd 0000:02:00.0: ERROR Transfer event TRB DMA ptr not part of current TD ep_index 2 comp_code 13"
I have a similar issue with my Logitech Brio. Used with Google Meet I can usually get through one meeting after which the webcam hangs and the camera light stays on, even through a reboot. A combination of unplugging, rebooting and replugging seems to be necessary to recover it. The webcam has the newest firmware (2.4). I have it connected to an ASMedia controller as well. 0a:00.0 USB controller: ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1042A USB 3.0 Host Controller (prog-if 30 [XHCI]) Moving it to a different port on the same controller does not fix it, so presumably the controller crashes. Moving it to a different controller seems to work. 00:14.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 9 Series Chipset Family USB xHCI Controller (prog-if 30 [XHCI]) Note that this is a fairly recent issue for me. I have not always had the issue. I suspect the upgrade from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 or a recent kernel update is where this issue started appearing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1873439 Title: Logitech BRIO webcam fails with "xhci_hcd :02:00.0: ERROR Transfer event TRB DMA ptr not part of current TD ep_index 2 comp_code 13" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1873439/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
