[Bug 2063813] Re: cloud-init schema validation failure for: 'broadcast' (24.04)
You can reproduce this by running `cloud-init schema --system` in the debug shell. As you will see there, it finds that the network- config.json is invalid (so the cloud-config.txt is valid!) The server iso [1] uses subiquity version 24.04.1, which has cloud-init 23.4.4-0ubuntu0~22.04.1 built in. The fix for the issue you're observering is in cloud-init 24.1.1 or higher [2], as that contains the fix for this issue [3]. Refreshing the installer via a directive in your autoinstall.yaml wouldn't help, because the schema is invalid, so it doesn't get there... ``` refresh-installer: update: true channel: latest/edge ``` ... however, one could run `snap refresh subiquity --channel=latest/edge` by hand at the shell prompt after the error occurs. From there, the install will continue to run. [Bug 2048921] Re: [SRU] ubuntu-advantage-tools (30 -> 31) Xenial, Bionic, Focal, Jammy, Mantic
This change has some undesired side effects: Our PXE installs, which use the autoinstall feature [1], were based on Ubuntu 22.04.0 (the initial release from April 2022). This base image has ubuntu-advantage-tools 27.7~22.04.1 on board. During installation, `unattended-upgrades -v` is executed by curtin, which wants to upgrade to ubuntu-advantage-tools 31.2~22.04 This process end with exitcode 1, probably because ubuntu-advantage-tools is `kept back because a related package is kept back or due to local apt_preferences(5)`. Because `unattended-upgrades` exits with 1, the install bails out. Ubuntu 22.04.4 - at this moment the latest point release - has a more modern version of ubuntu-advantage-tools, and we don't see that behavior there, .. but... The side effect is that a fresh install now results in an install that (still) needs to do a upgrade: The following NEW packages will be installed: ubuntu-pro-client The following packages will be upgraded: ubuntu-advantage-tools ubuntu-pro-client-l10n 2 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. [Bug 77980] Re: mtop failed to install (wrong/no password)
This piece of software is mainly maintained by volunteers in their spare time. As always, help is more than welcome. I've made an attempt to fix this bug [1], but this fix wasn't approved by MOTU [2]. To fix this issue, one should dig into the dbconfig documentation. The main thing to figure out is how to create a database user without creating a database, using dbconfig. Indeed, this shouldn't be too hard. (Maybe you can even look how packages like 'mytop' [3] resolve this problem) Unfortunately, I don't have enough spare time to ix this issue. Therefor, I just removed my assignment for this bug. When you run pppoeconf it will eventually ask You need at least one DNS IP address to resolve the normal host names. Normally your provider sends you addresses of useable servers when the connection is established. Would you like to add these addresses automatically to the list of nameservers in your local /etc/resolv.conf file? (recommended). I wonder what your choice was. [Bug 342332] Re: vlc crashes with SIGABRT at startup or when Show Playlist is clicked
The patch wasn't in Karmic at the time this bug was created. I can confirm the patch is Karmic. The patch isn't in Jaunty, but it would be nice if it can be included. Don't know how to reproduce the bug and why I was suffering from it, while others did not (just a guess, but I would expect more simular bugs if it were the case). Unfortunately, the vlc-developer who created the patch didn't had the time to explain the root cause to me. -- vlc crashes with SIGABRT at startup or when Show Playlist is clicked https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/342332 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 228399] Re: Closing lid results in kernel panic visible on VT-1
As a null-test I've commented out lines 30-34, which contain a workaround for this bug, in /etc/init.d/hotkey-setup and rebooted to 2.6.28-11-generic, which is currently in jaunty-main. Closing lid caused a panic again (as expected). I've installed Andy's amd64 deb's afterwards and rebooted to 2.6.28-13-generic #44~lp228399apw1. Closed lid; no panic this time! IMHO hotkey-setup needs an extra condition just before line 30 in case Andy's fix will hit the archive (pseudo-code: if kernel-version 2.6.28-13; then apply workaround). Thank you for your bugreport. There might be an unwanted version of http.tcl somewhere on your filesystem (in ~/plugins/ ?). Please find all files with the name http.tcl on your filesystem and send us the output of the command. p...@workmate:~$ sudo updatedb p...@workmate:~$ locate http.tcl If there's a version of http.tcl in ~/plugins, please temporary move it somewhere else to see if that makes a difference. If it does, please try to figure out where the file comes from and let us know. If we're not lucky, we need to find out which PATH amsn uses: - edit the file /usr/share/amsn/amsn with your favorite editor. Since the file may only be modified by root, please edit it as the root user (i.e. gksudo gedit /usr/share/amsn/amsn) - find line 169, which begins with lprepend auto_path [file join utils] - add these three lines underneath line 169: puts $auto_path puts $program_dir puts $HOME - save the file - execute amsn from the commandline again.
