I found a workaround... just created a new connection with my static IP. It takes it about 30 seconds to figure out which connection to use, but then it connects, and works fine thereafter. Its a minor annoyance to me, but to an inexperienced user, it would be a severe headache. - E On Thu, Nov

Yup, i was able to do this, but it is very flaky. On bootup, it takes it a while to figure out to use the manually configured one, but eventually uses it. On Tue, Nov 4, 2008 at 11:23 AM, David Perfors [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Auto eth0 is not changeable for me either, but adding a new one is

Public bug reported: After fresh 32-bit Intrepid RC install (and after installing all of the auto-updates), the system will (seemingly at random) go to a black screen. I can not recover from this. The graphics card (nVidia 9800 GTX) fan promptly spins up to full speed. I have not been able to

[Bug 289204] [NEW] nvidia driver can't be selected

2008-10-25 Thread photonymous
Public bug reported: After fresh 8.10 RC install, I go into System...Admin...Drivers, and try to tell it to use either nVidia driver (I tried both drivers). It tries, but then pops up a dialog with no text! It doesn't explain what went wrong, but clearly the driver was not enabled. I have an

This is very strange. I rebooted, and tried again. This time, it seemed to download ok, but didn't enable, and didn't give the same (blank) dialog box. So I did what any insane person would do: I tried a 3rd time, expecting different results. This time, it downloaded fine, and enabled
