I had the same issue so i opened a new bug report here
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1509871 . I have installed kernel
4.3..rc6 and seems to solve the issue, I'm still testing but it would
help me a lot it you could try the same kernel and test for several
hours and post there your results.
I can confirm, or at least is no longer freezing after several ours of work
under the 4.3.0 rc6 mainline kernel. If this changes and hangs again I will
post a re-tag the issue.
This is the only kernel I tried yesterday, as rc7 hasn't been compiled for
amd64 yet.
If you want I can try kernels

I have the same issue, Acer ES1-311 latest 1.11 BIOS and legacy boot
mode and it wont turn off, the only "solution" for me that really work
is to disable in BIOS the xHCI support (external USB 3.0 controller),
after that all works fine.
Is a shitty solution but at least it works, but I wouldn't
