It's easily reproductible : just plug my multimedia hard drive

I don't think it's an hardware failure : the hard drive itself has been
working well for years. This kerneloops appeared when I transfered the
hard drive from a multimedia hard drive to another.

[Bug 219923] Re: Smartmedia card not recognized

2009-08-04 Thread romu
Hi

unfortunately the laptop on which I could reproduce this more-than-one-
year-old bug is dead now.

Is anybody subscribed able to test ?

btw I find this quite a lazy way to handle bugs, ie ask the reporter to
test each new release for a magical disappearance.

[Bug 363643] Re: kernel oops on suspend

2009-05-20 Thread romu
Hi Leann

my logs shows a suspend time around 1.5s
Since I cannot / do not want to reproduce this bug anymore (I have upgraded to
2.6.30.rc4) I guess you could close the bug, unless somebody else can bring
anything new to this.

Thanks for the answer !

I had to unplugged it and then boot the laptop. Switch off, re-plug, reboot and

I attach lspci -vvv with the card now present.

As I will get some spare time in the next days I will try to reproduce
this one.

[Bug 307903] [NEW] Atheros AR5007EG disabled when switche key pressed - and dead since

2008-12-14 Thread romu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic

Hi !

recently bought an HP Pavilion dv71105ef with an integrated AR5007EF PCI-E wifi
card.
I managed to make it work using ath5k driver.

However when the wifi key is pressed the card is disabled. It
disapeared from the list of PCI devices at the next reboot (not listed
anymore in lspci -vvv output). Before being disabled it was listed as
device 09:00.0 and Realtek network interface was listed as 0a:00.0.

It might be ACPI-related since I see the following error when the wifi
key is pressed for the first time after a reboot :

[ 7075.060275] ACPI: EC: missing confirmations, switch off interrupt
mode.

Some relevant listings attached.

[Bug 184765] X Window system reports BadAlloc when starting Eclipse (xserver-xorg-core 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-12ubuntu8.1)

2008-01-21 Thread Aapo Romu
Public bug reported:

The security uprade xserver-xorg-core 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-12ubuntu8.1 is
broken. Downgrading the package to the version: xserver-xorg-core
2:1.3.9.9.dfsg-12ubuntu12ubuntu8 fixes the problem.

At least when starting Eclipse 3.3.1.1 using Java Sun JDK version

:~$ java -version
java version 1.6.0_03
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_03-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0_03-b05, mixed mode, sharing)

The system crashes with message:

:~/eclipse$ ./eclipse
The program 'Eclipse' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 432 error_code 11 request_code 146 minor_code 5)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 155120] Re: Too long booting time and I donot see the Ubuntu booting image, just a blank screen.

2007-10-28 Thread romu
Hello

I'm also affected by this bug : boot is very long (about 5 min) and no
splashscreen
HW is Toshiba M40 laptop
No problem with Feisty
I add a bootchart image

Please feel free to ask for anything else

This issue might be related to dynamic tick patch now included in
2.6.22 kernel (used by Gutsy) ?

[Bug 74362] Re: usb wireless device zd1211rw 5-2:1.0: zd_chip_control_leds error -19

2007-06-11 Thread romu
Well I think we have 2 unrelated issues :

1/ the usbfs not mounted, which prevents the device from working _from the
beginning_
2/the random crash : device begins to operate, receive an IP address, user is
able to browse etc then suddendly everything stops with the led messages in the
syslog

On the host where I encounter the 2nd issue usbfs is mounted (though
line in /etc/fstab, I think it is mounted by hotplug) and I _think_
other peripherals are attached to the bus so issue 1 doesn't trigger

[Bug 74362] Re: usb wireless device zd1211rw 5-2:1.0: zd_chip_control_leds error -19

2007-05-22 Thread romu
I also see this bug in Feisty.

The device is a Sagem USB dongle plugged in a USB hub. It hangs randomly after
minutes or hours.
Interestingly when rebooting in windows after a crash the dongle remains
crashed, so it seems it is hardlocked

I can see lots of this message in syslog :

May 21 10:43:39 laborieux kernel: [ 9573.676098] zd1211rw 4-4.3:1.0:
zd_chip_control_leds error -19

dmesg, lsusb -vvv attached

Please feel free to ask for further data points ; I could enable debug
in the driver if needed.
