[Bug 460765] Re: The folder contents could not be displayed. FTP conection using nautilus

2016-11-10 Thread rpgmaker
I can confirm this. I think it happens after a ftp connection is left
inactive on nautilus for a while. Workaround: I found that if I kill the
gvfsd-ftp process and quit nautilus with the 'nautilus -q' command (this
last step may not be needed) I can then connect again to the ftp
location when I start nautilus again but this shouldn't be needed in the
first place so this is clearly considered as a bug.

[Bug 1509664] Re: Samba shares unavailable after suspend

2015-10-27 Thread rpgmaker
A noob question, is there any chance that installing this kernel
manually will break my current installation or will I ever have my old
kernel available to boot from it? I ask because I don't really mess much
with kernel installations other than official updates, which sometimes
leave me with more than one kernel to boot from but I don't know if this
will be the case installing the kernel you mentioned.

[Bug 1509664] Re: Samba shares unavailable after suspend

2015-10-25 Thread rpgmaker
It's funny that I never thought of that but with Nautilus it seems that
the shares are made available almost inmediately. While at first they
aren't there I just hit the 'network' directory again and they have
appeared. Maybe it is because I have waken the laptop too quickly after
suspending it so I will keep testing it throughout the week and see if
this holds.

[Bug 1509664] [NEW] Samba shares unavailable after suspend

2015-10-24 Thread rpgmaker
Public bug reported:

I have noticed that after I suspend my laptop and wake it up again the
samba shares aren't available, sometimes they may be available after an
unespecific long time but most times, when I really need to access the
shares, I just restart the laptop and the shares are then made available
again. The samba server is a NAS that is on at all times. I'm on ubuntu
14.04 on a Dell Inspiron 14z n411z.

What I do sometimes to accelerate the process of the shares appearing is
to kill and start again the filemanager. It doesn't always works or it
may just give me the ilusion of working but the results aren't
deterministic (sometimes after executing 'nemo -q' several times the
shares may appear again but maybe they were going to appear anyways
without issuing the command). This is a really annoying bug.

I can still experience the issue on 14.04.1 which is just crazy. I'm on
13.04 trying to avoid losing this functionality but now they took all
the repositories offline because its support life cycle ended. It would
seem that 14.04 support was the one that ended though given how this
hasn't even been looked at (along with many others bug reports).

I also suffer from this bug. I have used 12.10 for the past year and
upgraded to 14.04 but aside from the fact that it seemed generally buggy
this did not work. Going over all the versions between 12.10 and 14.04
revealed that 13.04 is the only one where the brightness keys still
work. After that they don't work on any other release. I did a lot of
experimenting with grub parameters and what not to no avail.

It seems that the applet/notification causing the problem is the
battery status one. I set it up so that it doesn't show up on the
notification area anymore and the problem hasn't occurred again. It's
not a problem while I'm on AC power in my house but it sure bothers me
when I on battery and a glance to the notification area could give me
the status of it. Still, this is the best workaround I've seen.

I can confirm this bug on ubuntu 10.10. Meaning that this won't get

since now I know why this problem happens. The resolution of my screen
does change whenever I connect my laptop to my TV to watch a something
so that's what probably 'causing this problem.

I won't make a fresh install (I fixed the bug with the ifconfig wlan0

ubuntu community. Ubuntu releases are shipped with bugs already
solved/fixed and wait until the next release. Sometimes they don't even

Suzan's fix worked. But the sound didn't work when I first log in. I had
to go to 'open volume control' and un-mute the PCM. No big deal, I had
to do this before on the betas for no apparent reason but I thought it
was worth comment on it.

Now hoping that this fix gets to the final release

dAS2000: Still unclear to me why the network interface influences
alsa.

There seems to be some kind of relation between some sound cards and
ethernet/wireless interfaces. I don't know much about hardware but I use
to have problems on Vista because of this, for example, if I didn't have
the right wireless card driver I couldn't get the sound working (or vice
versa?).

[Bug 288863] [NEW] Intrepid Ibex hangs when shutting down or restarting...

2008-10-24 Thread rpgmaker
Public bug reported:

Intrepid Ibex RC hangs when shutting down or restarting (in the shutting
down part) for a few minutes. A black screen appears with what seems to
be a prompt (but isn't) in the upper left corner of the screen. When I
change the tty the process where it seems to hang is shutting down
ALSA After a few minutes the Stopping bluetooth appears and
everything goes on as normal.

With boot-up manager I tried to locate the shutdown script that has
something to do with bluetooth to deactivate it (since I don't use it)
and check if the hanging still occurred but didn't find it. UPDATE: I
don't know why I'm looking a bluetooth script if the problem is when
shutting down ALSA. My bad.

The machine is an HP dv2000 (specifically a dv2423la). I didn't have
this issue in any other ubuntu release until now.

[Bug 202791] Re: [Hardy] audacity fails to playback a sound file due to no device

2008-05-07 Thread rpgmaker
As someone above me said. Removing the package jackd solves the problem.
I see that I need that package for LiVES (which never worked quite as
expected for me) and for Ardour, which I don't use but for what I see in
its homepage is so much more professional than what Audacity is.

I hope this situation to be updated. This kind of things usually stay
the same through the life cycle of the distro, one of the things that
Ubuntu has to improve...
