I had the same errors on startup using KDE 3.5.8 on Kubuntu 7.10. I changed the wallpaper and restarted, the desktop appeared with the icons and without the error mesages. I guess the bug is related to some wallpaper issue. -- Kde error message on kubuntu: The process for the file protocol died unexpectedly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/70240 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdebase in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 447726] [NEW] sound system does not work
Public bug reported: I have 2 laptops. ne Lenovo 3000 Y300 and the other an acer aspire one. Both have Ubuntu loaded. Neither is able to play sound although the acer can run a video without sound and the Lenovo cant run a video either. This is fairly recent. Also when I try to download packages I tend to get a number of packages missing. T These are all recent problems. Not quite clear which I could have done on both machines.
