I have noticed this problem since Ubuntu 9.04. Actually, I have not found any way to change EnableWatching parameter other than editing tracker.cfg. It would be great if a control will be added into tracker-preferences UI. -- Tracker isn't watching directories for new/changed files

The nohz=off option fixed the freeze problem for me, as well the acpi=off option. After a clean install, intrepid was freezing very often, especially when launching programs (from text editor to oowriter...). No it does not freeze, even if oowriter still hangs during loading. Hardware: Acer
