[Bug 788298] Re: grub-reboot changes boot default permanently on Lucid LTS
Correct me if I'm wrong, according to [this documentation](https://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/grub/html_node/Environment- block.html), on LVM or RAID disk the `/boot/grub/grubenv` file cannot be modified by GRUB, in that case, by the `save_env` routine. Only the OS via `grub-reboot`, `grub-editenv` or `grub-set-default` can modify the `/boot/grub/grubenv` file. Therefore, the `save_env prev_saved_entry` won't work here (on LVM or RAID disk), and the system will not be able to boot on the previously saved entry. Is that correct ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/788298 Title: grub-reboot changes boot default permanently on Lucid LTS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/788298/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1633319] Re: memory leak in indicator-datetime
Confirming in 18.04.1: `indicator-datetime-service` is allocating 3GB+ of memory (!), starting soon after startup This started happening after I installed evolution and set it up to sync with gmail using the evolution setup wizard. I uninstalled evolution and the problem continued. Although evolution was set up to use a Google Account, there was no corresponding entry in "Online Accounts", which was empty. I manually added and then removed my Google Account. Problem persists. Something, somewhere still has reference to my Google Account, but I can't find it. This is apparently a dupe of #1731838, #1652789, #1634059, and I think #1633319 and #342123 and (most usefully) #1589605. [Bug 1652270] Re: Could not boot into RPi3 with kernel 4.4.0-1038-raspi2
I can also confirm that editing config.txt worked, but I had to remove the ppa (ppa:ubuntu-raspi2/ppa-rpi3) first. If it can help somebody else, here is what I did. I was stuck with the "starting kernel" message, just after boot. 1/ I removed the sd card from the raspberry and put it in another computer : cd system-boot mv initrd.img initrd.img.ori mv initrd.img.bak initrd.img mv bcm2710-rpi-3-b.dtb bcm2710-rpi-3-b.dtb.ori mv bcm2710-rpi-3-b.dtb.bak bcm2710-rpi-3-b.dtb mv boot.scr boot.scr.ori mv boot.scr.bak boot.scr mv vmlinuz vmlinuz.ori mv vmlinuz.bak vmlinuz 2/ Put the sd card back in the raspberry, it should start up and uname -r should display 1034 3/ Comment the ppa:ubuntu-raspi2/ppa-rpi3 in /etc/apt/sources.list sudo apt-get update 4/ Re-install kernel (from the offical Canonical rpi2) sudo apt-get install --reinstall flash-kernel linux-firmware-raspi2 sudo reboot 5/ Normally you're stuck again at the boot but for another reason. So remove again the sd card from the raspberry and put it in another computer. This time modify the config.txt file in system-boot as follows : # set extended DT area #device_tree_address=0x100 #device_tree_end=0x8000 device_tree_address=0x02008000 6/ Now it should work. This also would mean that the special ppa for raspberry pi 3 is not anymore necessary. Currently my rpi3 work with kernel 1042. Public bug reported: During the Upgrade to 15.10 my PC froze with only the wallpaper on the screen. No Unity or so. Also was there no HDD activity for over an hour. I rebooted and the system came back partly showing 15.10 but login stated 15.04 and the kernel was still 3.19. [Bug 1085889] Re: [Dell Precision M4600] Cannot mount USB3 external drive while plugged before boot
Thanks for the notification of the new BIOS. As I said, I had the same problem on another computer that was not a Dell M4600 (not even a dell), so I don't think the BIOS update would help. Moreover, I cannot test it on my dell M4600 because the problem has been solved with blacklist uas (and then mount and unblacklist). I would need to do a new installation to test for it. So, I cannot say anything on the M4600, but for my other computer, I did a new installation with raring, and it worked at first try. I don't know if the problem is solved natively on M4600 with raring, but it is with my HP... Lets say it is solved if this affects nobody else on quantal or raring... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1085889 Title: [Dell Precision M4600] Cannot mount USB3 external drive while plugged before boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1085889/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
