[Bug 1909791] [NEW] Pulseaudio profiles not available (analouge stereo) so no sound
Public bug reported: regression-update bug 1876065 I am running Pulseaudio version 1:13.99.2-1Ubuntu2.1 which I assume is a newer release than 1:13.99.1-1ubuntu3.3 as described in bug 1876065. On each boot Pulse reverts to these available profiles (extract only, full text as attachment) pacmd list-cards name: ... profiles: input:analog-stereo: Analogue Stereo Input (priority 65, available: no) output:iec958-stereo: Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output (priority 5500, available: unknown) output:iec958-stereo+input:analog-stereo: Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output + Analogue Stereo Input (priority 5565, available: no) off: Off (priority 0, available: unknown) active profile: ... After deleting the files in ~/.config/Pulse and entering: pulseaudio -k, the output changes to: pacmd list-cards name: ... profiles: input:analog-stereo: Analogue Stereo Input (priority 65, available: no) output:analog-stereo: Analogue Stereo Output (priority 6500, available: unknown) output:analog-stereo+input:analog-stereo: Analogue Stereo Duplex (priority 6565, available: no) output:iec958-stereo: Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output (priority 5500, available: unknown) output:iec958-stereo+input:analog-stereo: Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output + Analogue Stereo Input (priority 5565, available: no) off: Off (priority 0, available: unknown) active profile: ... Having discovered the correct sink and profile one would proceed to make them the default by adding these 2 lines to /etc/pulse/default.pa: 1/ set-default-sink alsa_output.pci-_09_00.3.analog-stereo 2/ set-card-profile alsa_card.pci-_09_00.3 output:analog-stereo: Analogue Stereo Output, or, set-card-profile alsa_card.pci-_09_00.3 output:analog-stereo+input:analog-stereo: Analogue Stereo Duplex Setting the default sink (1) causes no problems but only allows selection of iec958 stereo but attempting to set the default profile (2) and rebooting and opening PulseAudio Volume Control leads to a pop-up window displaying: establishing connection to PulseAudio please wait... In other words PulseAudio is not running. So in summary I can get sound by buggering around each boot but cannot fix the issue on a permanent basis. This PC was release upgraded to 20.10 yesterday. This is the 3rd PC in the last several months I have had to spend significant time to get sound working, the others I found a permanent work-around for. All are fairly new, the other PCs are running a Ryzon 3000 and 5000 series CPU and Kubuntu 20.04 and 20.10. Having sound is something that should work out of the box. [Bug 1903668] [NEW] HDMI audio device disappears and is unavailble after several minutes of not being used
Public bug reported: On system boot both of my audio devices are selectable and useable. After around 10 minutes the HDMI device just disappears and cannot be selected as output in either the task bar audio applet or in Kstart>system settings>audio(either devices or advanced tab). In the devices tab a device called Dummy output is displayed and in the advanced tab the HDMI device is shown, in this case GP107GL, with the profile in the dropdown box underneath it displaying off with no ability to switch it to on. If I go to pulse volume control>configuration i am able to select the HDMI device and the system will use it. If I play a 2 hour movie after this and then turn off the media player the HDMI device will once again disappear after about 10 minutes. When I ran ubuntu-bug the system identified the HDMI device and switched to it (it is set as default) and has remained accessable for 15 minutes now. I am running the NVIDIA 450 driver package. If I run Kubuntu 20.10 a similar problem occurs except the the profile of the device is somehow damaged but by selecting any speaker setup (profile), audio returns. [Bug 1899331] [NEW] Large file processing outside of home directory problems
Public bug reported: Operating System: Kubuntu 20.10 KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0 Qt Version: 5.14.2 Kernel Version: 5.8.0-21-generic OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor Memory: 15.6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: GeForce GTX 1080/PCIe/SSE2 Processing large files (50GB+) is a problem when they are resident outside of the home directory, in my case on a second HDD. The problem occurs with a number of programs such as Tixati, MKVtoolnix, VLC and MPV. The problems caused start at very high CPU usage and slow system responce through to freezing of an application where mouse movement is not possible/visible though it is visible and moveable outside of the affected window. I first noticed the problem on 20.04 and it is still present under 20.10. I am using Kubuntu and initially raised a KDE bug which was closed and reported as fixed upstream but it appears not to have been. (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426580) My system has a number of drives, M2, SSD and mechanical HDD, the home directory is on a M2 NVME drive. Transfer speeds between the M2 drives is typically 1.1GB/s and between the mechanical HDD 160-170 MB/s, indicating they are working correctly and are in any case very new. Gsmartcontrol does not indicate any issue with the drives. As an example I ran MKVtoolnix a number of times, processing the same file, on a few different disks and came up with wildly diverging processing times: M2 home directory 4 minutes 25 seconds 2nd M2 drive 16 minutes 0 seconds 1st and 2nd mechanical HDD both around 170 minutes As it is a dual boot machine I performed the same test on Windows using one of the mechanical HDD and it took 16 minutes 4 seconds. The test consisted of remuxing and m2ts file to a mkv file, the input size was 58GB and the output size was 52 GB. I used MKVtoolnix version 51 and each file was read and written to the same disk. I ran the command as you requested but I had already removed GIMP so no result was forthcoming. The ppa I refer to is the one which Ubuntu uses as I installed via Discover (Kubuntu). Contrary to your advice I installed GIMP and reran the command, I hope this provided the information you were after. [Bug 1888329] [NEW] GIMP will not launch
Public bug reported: Kubuntu 20.04 - ppa version Attempting to launch GIMP displays a popup window saying it requires gegl version 4.22 and that I only have version 4.18. A check with synaptic shows latest version and installed version as both being 4.22 ** Affects: gimp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1888329 Title: GIMP will not launch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gimp/+bug/1888329/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1860887] [NEW] Does not mount an ISO image
Public bug reported: Kubuntu 19.10 Similar to bug 62651. Installing this package produces a desktop action entry: Exec=if [ ! -d "$HOME/media" ]; then mkdir "$HOME/media"; cp "/usr/share/kde4/apps/kde-service-menu-fuseiso/media.directory" "$HOME/media/.directory"; fi; fuseiso -p "%F" "$HOME/media/`basename "%F"`"; kde-open "$HOME/media/`basename "%F"`" The trouble is "if" is not a command. Secondly, the desktop entry reads: MimeType=application/x-cd-image;application/x-iso;application/x-mdf;application/x-nrg;application/x-iso9660-image; There is no reason to restrict this to iso 9660. UDF iso should also be supported as well all file formats supported by the OS ** Affects: kde-service-menu-fuseiso (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1860887 Title: Does not mount an ISO image To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-service-menu-fuseiso/+bug/1860887/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1857750] Re: Discover misbehaving again
To answer your question yes, it is reproducible but random. On receiving this email I searched Discover for the Kubuntu included package of K3b. In this case the package did not flash up and disappear, instead, Discover just showed a result of, Sorry, nothing found. Same result for a search of the packages CDEmu, Furius or Furiusisomount. These among others were the exact search terms i used, in many cases I searched Muon first to get the correct name of the package. I also checked Nautilus, which I have installed, again no result. I don't know why today they did not appear and disappear but they still cannot be found. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1857750 Title: Discover misbehaving again To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-discover/+bug/1857750/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
