[Bug 561435] [NEW] Jockey doesn't disable Nouveau and says failed to install nvidia driver
Public bug reported: Sorry for my terrible English, I'm Russian. Jockey in Lucid in all incarnations (jockey-gtk and jockey-kde) fails installing Nvidia proprietary driver. In Lucid default driver for Nvidia video cards is Nouveau, which provides KMS and other good stuff. But, because of that when you installing Nvidia proprietary driver, you must disable Nouveau. Jockey forget about that and fails nvidia install, but after that says reboot system!. After rebooting (because nvidia-glx in real installed and /etc/X11/xorg.conf created) we see conflict of kernel modules, and Nouveau is still enable. How to disable Nouveau: add to /etc/default/grub in line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT={something} string nomodeset. This must seen as GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT={something} nomodeset. Jockey must do that automatically after installing Nvidia driver and after removing Nvidia driver must delete this string. I'm Gentoo user (it's a good google-fu qualification :-) ), and I quickly find this issue, but some people may have problems with that. ** Affects: jockey (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Jockey doesn't disable Nouveau and says failed to install nvidia driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561435 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 446146] Re: Huawei E169 USB dongle not working with kernel 2.6.31-12.40
I used to connect with my mobile and this patch doesn't solve my problem. I still can't connect with broadband mobile (no broad band mobile appear on network manager menu). The last time it works was when I have 2.6.28 installed from ubuntu 9.04. -- Huawei E169 USB dongle not working with kernel 2.6.31-12.40 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/446146 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 48605] Re: Firefox URL-bar search not working with a single word.
Got it ! It was the fault of my ISP DNS which redirects to some 'related links' instead of returning an error when trying to reach a non-existant website. But Windows doesn't act like Linux : When trying to reach an unqualified host name (foobar insetad of foobar.mysite.com for example), Windows (or at least my windows config) doesn't even try resolve it by the DNS, whereas Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, maybe others) and FreeBSD does. -- Firefox URL-bar search not working with a single word. https://launchpad.net/bugs/48605 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
