same symptoms with Netgear WG111v2 (true v2) usb wireless device, based on rtl8187 chip. it is the same on the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Ubuntu Gutsy and Hardy. This is very annoying because there's not a 64 bit driver that works with ndiswrapper, so i am forced to use a 32 bit ubuntu.
