[Bug 442052] Re: Progress bar in Add/Remove does not show bar in proportion to actual progress

2013-05-10 Thread spiral
Yes, quite brilliant, wait for several years until everything becomes
obsolete so that you dont have to resolve any bug. I hate the way Ubuntu
has become, and I will certainly not contribute anymore. This has
happened to all the bugs I have submited. What's the point?

[Bug 873747] [NEW] Two displays, proper resolution cannot be set!

2011-10-13 Thread spiral
Public bug reported:

Freshly installed 11.10 x86, ATI, installed proprietary drivers. Two displays,
one laptop with 1600x900 resolution, other viewsonic external monitor with
1366x768. What I wanted it to extend, so that my viewsonic is to the right.
1. I went to system/Display
2. Unchecked mirror
3. Set proper resolutions
4. Clicked on apply and than I got a popup message that something is wrong, and
this could not be done because max is 1600x1600. Immediately it checks mirror,
and sets my resolution to 1280x768 for both displays.
5. Ok, trying to find workarround. I unchecked mirror, set up resolution for
both displays to 800x600 (since it told me max was 1600).
6. It works. I set up then resolutions to both displays to their max, and I got
what can be seen on screenshot.

This did work in previous version, 11.04. Any workarround would be appreciated
before bug fix is released.
Thanks.

[Bug 777943] [NEW] Ratings with stars in Ubuntu Software Manager display incorect score

2011-05-05 Thread spiral
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: software-center

This is the example I found that reflects the problem:
Guake Terminal has 10 ratings, 9 of them are with 5 stars, and one of them is
with 4 stars, an average of 4.9, but instead showing 5 stars as an average
score, it shows 4 and a half. There is a screenshot included to prove it.
My suggestion would be that for the remainder if average is under .33 that it
is rounded to 0 for stars, if it is between .33 and .66, to half of a star, and
above .66, rounded to 1 whole star.

[Bug 777158] [NEW] Open ubuntu-bug, chose other and it will say error because it needs a package or PIB

2011-05-04 Thread spiral
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apport

I needed to report an error about network and I did not know the name of the
package. On the instructions for bug reporting I found this
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs):
Filing a general bug against no particular package

If you're not sure which package is affected by the bug, type ubuntu-bug
in the Run Application window and click Run. This will guide you
through a series of questions to gather more information about the bug.

1. ALT+F2
2. ubuntu-bug
3. Chose Other
Result: You need to specify a package or PIB...

This is in contradiction of what is in instruction page, and also I
cannot enter the PIB or package name unless I entered it after I typed
in ubuntu-one after alt+f2

[Bug 777175] [NEW] Both wired and wireless network do not work unless UTP cable was plugged in durring startup

2011-05-04 Thread spiral
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Ubuntu 11.04, fully updated
Atheros Ethernet card and Broadcom BCM 4313 wireless card, on Dell Inspiron
N7010
Freshly installed system

The problem is that both wireless and wired connection do not work. This is
unless either one of two things is done:
1. UTP cable was plugged in before system starts
2. Uncheck enable wireless before restart and then enabling it when everything
has loaded again

If I plug in UTP cable after system has been fully loaded, nothing will
happen and I will not have internet connection, not even wired one.

Broadcom STA drivers are enabled and since they work when steps 1. or 2.
are taken, probably means that the issue is somewhere in network
manager.

[Bug 587920] [NEW] Weekly Update removed my proprietary nVidia drivers

2010-05-31 Thread spiral
Public bug reported:

I did set up my Update Manager to update system once a week.
After 200MB was downloaded, it required system to be restarted.
After restart, it asked for reconfiguring xserver or to go back to default
drivers.
I tried to start nVidia X Server Settings, but it reported that I need to do
'nvidia-xserver' in terminal. I did then restarted, but still no luck.
Then I went to 'Hardware Drivers' via Gnome menu, and noticed that proprietary
driver was not activated. I clicked on activation and waited until it was
downloaded. After restart, everything was fine again.
I do not know what package could cause this to happen, but I am willing to
provide any log file, just give me instructions what you need in order to
determine the cause.

Re: [Bug 444904] Re: IBus Preferences has drop down list 100% of screen height

2009-10-17 Thread spiral
I dont think you understood me. The list goes from the top of the screen to
the bottom. The bug is because the list is empty from where it should have
started to the top of the screen. Not a serious bug, but enough for 100
papercuts. Since no screenshot can be provided, I can take a camera and take
a picture if you like.

However, I wanted to post a screenshot of this, but it is not possible
while IBus is on, so that is yet another bug. When I close IBus, prinscreen
 works once again.

[Bug 444904] [NEW] IBus Preferences has drop down list 100% of screen height

2009-10-06 Thread spiral
Public bug reported:

Repro:
1. Start IBus Preferences
2. It will ask to start some daemons, so ok
3. Input method tab
4. Click on Select Input method drop down list
Result: drop down list will get 100% of screen height. First item is at its
place, while all the space above is empty. If you scroll down, and then back
up, it will get right.
However, I wanted to post a screenshot of this, but it is not possible while
IBus is on, so that is yet another bug. When I close IBus, prinscreen works
once again.

It still does not work, even with that new file. I followed steps on
that wiki page, and here is the error_log.

Following the steps in wiki, I noticed that there was no file cupsys. I
then went to synaptic and installed it (cups was there, just not
cupsys), but it did not appear in the location mentioned in wiki page.
Thus instead of cupsys restart I had to do cups restart.

[Bug 375763] [NEW] printer wont print although ubuntu says that job is compleated, also driver wont update

2009-05-12 Thread spiral
Public bug reported:

Hi,
I have canon LBP3000 laser printer. I have downloaded both versions of driver
from canon, version 1.6 and 1.8, and followed step by step instructions. I also
checked all over the net for the solution, but found none.
My printer is identified, and status is fine, just it wont print. This is in
detail what happens, and the steps I followed.
First I made sure that I have removed printer's spooler:

/usr/sbin/lpadmin -x LBP5000

Then, I installed these provided packages:

# dpkg -i cndrvcups-common_1.80-1_i386.deb

# dpkg -i cndrvcups-capt_1.80-1_i386.deb

I checked for driver version by:

# dpkg -l | grep cndrvcups

and it was fine, 1.80

Then I restarted cups and registered:
/usr/sbin/lpadmin -p LBP3000 -m CNCUPSLBP3000CAPTK.ppd -v ccp:/var/ccpd/fifo0 -E
/usr/sbin/ccpdadmin -p LBP3000 -o /dev/usb/lp0

And started daemon:

# /etc/init.d/ccpd start

In system/preferences/default printer my printer is set as default

In system/administration/printing there is LBP3000 with green check

I click on properties and I noticed that for driver it says 1.5 version.
That was odd, but I tried nonetheless. I did print page, it said
completed, but no printing occurred. I then tried to changeMake and
Model by clicking on the button to the right and chosing the right ppt
file, since from select from database was only that 1.5 version driver
that probably came with Ubuntu. I am using 9.04, so its a bit odd that
it has driver so old.

In previous steps you noticed that in fifo0 I registered my ppt, and
fifo0 is chosen, but still that 1.5 version, and printer wont print
anything although status says everything is fine and printing jobs
compleated.

It took me hours and hours working on this, but still no solution.

[Bug 217571] Re: xsane only scans as root

2009-03-13 Thread spiral
I still have this problem with jaunty,
the above mentioned method worked for me in older Ubuntuversions, but the
/etc/udev/rules.d/40-basic-permissions.rules file isn't present anymore to edit.
