The edit of the edid.bin fixed the issue for me with a Toshiba Tecra
(GeForce4 420 Go) -- I still can't understand why the NV driver gets:
(--) NV(0): Panel size is 1024 x 768
and the nvidia driver only sees 969 (verified via nvidia-settings)

I have the same issue as Jonathan with a Toshiba Tecra 2100 (using
GeForce4 420 GO and the nvidia driver). I get a perfect 1024x768 with
