[Bug 2048472] Re: [24.04 LTS] AMD driver-errors on E-350 APU during boot
I found new info: First, this errormessage always pop up with all AMD drivers on newer kernels. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/2874 Most important takeaway from this is the comment of Alex Deucher: "All of these are variable sized arrays so these are false positives." [Bug 1805129] Re: appmenu-gtk-module makes glade crash
I toyed around a bit based on the post #11 from Alkis Georgopoulos (thank you for that, vala-panel-appmenu.sh is indeed the culprit, that was really really helpful) One solution is change the exec line in the desktop file like: env GTK_MODULES=glade glade %f this is one solution that works. But I think a better solution would be to delete /etc/profile.d/vala- panel-appmenu.sh altogether because the environment variables GTK_MODULES and UBUNTU_MENUPROXY are both not in use in Ubuntu-MATE and AFAICT for GNOME-Desktop only. I deleted /etc/profile.d/vala-panel-appmenu.sh It works without problem and I think it is a bit more elegant. Could/should the file /etc/profile.d/vala-panel-appmenu.sh be marked as a conflict against mate-desktop-environment package ? In that case it would only be installed if the desktop is NOT Ubuntu-MATE -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1805129 Title: appmenu-gtk-module makes glade crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/appmenu-gtk-module/+bug/1805129/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1909806] Re: [pluma] text autohyphenated on word wrap with pango >1.43
This bug, it seems, has been willfully created by Matthias Clasen and Behdad Esfahbod who, driven by linguistic purism, seem to be blissfully unaware of the effect on unimportant minor usecases like e.g. code editors, filemanagers, scientific software etc. They call this bug a 'feature'. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/pango/-/issues/401 This 'feature' broke already Caja, Pluma, Nautilus, Gedit and probably some more. I can confirm that this bug is still in ubuntu-mate (version 19.10). when unmounting external drives without emptying trash, the trash icon stays on "full" forever (until the next login) Expected behaviour would be a re-evaluation of the trash state of the mounted devices after any mount/unmount of any drive This papercut has reached the respectable age of 11 years which, of course, is getting a bit embarrassing. :-) I don't know where the trashcan code hides (somewhere in caja ?) [Bug 1575652] Re: PXE install prefixes /cdrom to squashfs location, fails to find it
This bug is still plaguing me. I tried the hack of editing the initrd and it did not fix the issue. Apparently there is a proposed test package fix but I do not know how to apply it. I don't even see the installer TRYING to access the filesystem.squashfs file when I check ctrl-alt-f4. I'm completely at a loss here, I've been banging my head against the wall for days trying to fix this. I've tried uploading the squashfs file to a server, I've tried serving it from the tftp server , this is all after the hack mind you, and no joy. If someone could please help I would greatly appreciate it. [Bug 1660636] [NEW] ^F does not open search (and other broken keys)
Public bug reported: Since latest firefox upgrade, ^F (ctrl+F) no longer opens search. Instead, it scrolls to next tab. The edit meny still shows that ^F should search as one would expect. In text boxes ^F however does work correctly, and advances one characters (unlike ^N, which seems to have been completely stolen, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1660380) As I'm writing this, it also appears that shift+arrows no longer select text in text boxes, only move the cursor, so something is horribly wrong with the keybindings. [Bug 1479136] Re: [ubuntu 14.04.2] Artefacts in radeon driver on kernel 3.16 and upwards
@Ivan: There is a slight possibility that the patch could work for you (I don't know because I don't have that hardware). You could test by installing kernel 4.7 from mainline. The probable cause of the flickering is PLL-resonance which only seems to affect LVDS and only on older GPU-chips. It is mitigated by switching off the fractional divider of the PLL when an LVDS is connected, which is exactly what the patch is doing for chips like RS780/880 (R600) and older. @everyone: The patch is in kernel 4.7 now so there is no need anymore to post your results here. Thank you all very much for what you posted thus far; It turned out to be quite helpful. If the patch is not working for you, you are probably hitting a different bug. Please commit a new bugreport in that case. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1479136 Title: [ubuntu 14.04.2] Artefacts in radeon driver on kernel 3.16 and upwards To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1479136/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

OK, about the bisect: c2fb3094669a3205f16a32f4119d0afe40b1a1fd is the first bad commit Date: Sun Apr 20 13:24:32 2014 +0200 drm/radeon: improve PLL limit handling in post div calculation This improves the PLL parameters when we work at the limits of the allowed ranges. I reverted this commit (I got some good working tips from Chris Bainbridge), tested the result with the kernels 4.4.0-rc1 and 4.6.0-rc6+ and the problem is completely gone. I ended up with a good stable and rock-solid display output without artefacts. Since this is an upstream bug, please follow this link [ https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83461 ] and mention it there. Thanks. I gave them a call, but then I noticed a new BIOS was posted. Unfortunately it looks like I'll have to reinstall Windows in order to flash it. I did not see anything directly related to this in the release notes, but I'll give it a try. I think I must get some sleep :P. I don't remember if it was specified supported or not befor.
