[Bug 1767564] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 Workspaces only change on primary monitor

2019-03-13 Thread torzsmokus
the tweak works fine for the original issue.
but still, if you choose the option "Workspaces span displays", the Activities
(and the hot corner) on the secondary display shows windows on all workspaces,
not only the current one as expected.
should I file a new bug for this?

[Bug 502920] Re: [needs-packaging] Canon UFR II driver needs packaging

Bob’s script depends on devscripts, libtool and automake.
on my 12.04 system it fails with No package 'libglade-2.0' found (I cannot
even install it, there is only a libglade2-0 package, which is already
installed)

But! there is a PPA now, from which I got packages that just worked. See

[Bug 401545] Re: texlive depends on docs that take up more space than the software

2011-05-04 Thread torzsmokus
Do you want us to change *every* file (several thousands?) changing the
copyright statement there? No.

In the 21st century, equipped with such amazing tools as perl (etc), doing this
when building the ubuntu package should not mean a problem.
Would you please explain shortly, why it does.

[Bug 71754] Re: Trying to install the character é fails with vim-latexsuite

2011-04-26 Thread torzsmokus
despite 'working as designed', this behaviour is still very annoying. one
should not expect average users of an Ubuntu package to read upstream FAQs and
fix an issue by manually editing config files when all they want is to actually
_type_ a character in their native script (and not even some obscure
rarely-used one).
why not include that one-liner fix in the package by default? I tend to
disagree with W. Grant.

[Bug 764483] [NEW] 'Next' should be the default action on 'Find' dialog

2011-04-18 Thread torzsmokus
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gucharmap

Ubuntu 10.10
gucharmap 1:2.32.0-0ubuntu1

when I open the Find dialog, I expect that typing something and hitting Enter
will show the first result.
instead, nothing happens. I have to press the 'Next' button by hand.

this error message appears on the console when opening the dialog:

 sudo modprobe option omnibook ectype=15
you should have typed

[Bug 578733] Re: no way to change username for ssh tunneling

2010-09-05 Thread torzsmokus
Sorry, I didn't notice #3 was a question to me (and not to the devs).
I don't fully understand what Kamus wants to know, but if I get it right, I
suppose it's already answered in my first comment:
there should be a separate field for remote username, maybe defaulting to the
 local one.

[Bug 578733] [NEW] no way to change username for ssh tunneling

2010-05-11 Thread torzsmokus
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vinagre

Intended action:
connect to a firewalled machine using VNC with SSH tunneling

Steps:
1., start Vinagre
2., Machine Connect
3., select Protocol: VNC, fill in Host
4., check Use host [remote.host] as a SSH tunnel
5., select Connect
6., a the dialog appears saying Host: [my current username on the local
machi...@[remote.host] which is not the desired login !
7., so I am asked to provide a password for a nonexistent user on the remote
machine, which I obviously cannot do.

What should happen:
either on the Connect or the Password dialog box, one should have an option to
provide the user name for the remote machine

Versions:
Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
vinagre 2.30.0-0ubuntu2

[Bug 578733] Re: no way to change username for ssh tunneling

2010-05-11 Thread torzsmokus
oh, I figured out (from the tooltip of the Host field) that I can enter
[remoteu...@remote.host]
but IMHO this is not intuitive enough. there should be a separate field for
remote username, maybe defaulting to the local one.
