Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kanjisaver
I installed kanjisaver from the Jaunty repository but it does not appear in the
KDE screen saver settings dialog.
The executable kanjisaver.kss is functional and correctly installed in /usr/bin.
The package used to work in KDE3.5
Kubuntu
Edit to above: the solution was only temporary.
I noticed that both knetworkmanager and plasma-widget-network-manager were
installed, removing knetworkmanager solved the issue.

knetworkmanager under kde4 doesn't recognize the static IP connections that I
have configured.
Frank's suggestion worked for me.
I don't have a static IP, using just DHCP. Still after a recent update in
Jaunty NetworkManager couldn't establish system connection, nothing worked,
couldn't even access local modem.
Current version: knetworkmanager - 1:0.7svn864988-0ubuntu8

I get this also (after updating with KPackageKit), but with never packages:
kdebase-runtime 4:4.2.1-0ubuntu2 -- kdebase-runtime_4%3a4.2.2-0ubuntu1_i386.deb
dpkg --configure -a does nothing

I don't know if this is relevant but I get the white screen of death if I use
3D desktop effects and xserver-xgl is installed. This is true even with the
latest beta drivers (173.08). Apparently xserver-xgl prevents direct rendering:
