I faced the same issue with an embedded LEX 2I260D-H26 on Ubuntu 16.04
both in kernels 4.6. I faced an issue where (when not blacklisting the
gma500_gfx driver via /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf), the HDMI screen
would stay black, unless the HDMI cable was NOT plugged in during boot

this bug appeared in Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 12.04 didn't show this behavior.
I've found a possible predecessor in bug #212684.
Switching to a recent mainline kernel didn't fix this issue.

will repeat this behavior.

Live 13.10 USB key created with usb-creator-gtk, tried on a Dell
Latitude E6400.
Yesterday, with an unformatted hard disk, it worked: live system came up

After activating partner repos I can also find it when searching for
"acroread", but that is the package name, not the name of the
application. It is not found when searching "Acrobat Reader", "Acrobat",
"Adobe" or "Adobe Reader"

My Girlfriend also has a x121e with the same problems, so I replaced her WLAN
card.
For those wanting to do the same: The trick is to plug the card into the spare
mini PCIe slot and not the WLAN card slot. This way the BIOS will not complain

At university we have a Proxy for wired connections:
Mac Filtering, No Authentication, Port 8080, Proxy not transparent
some ports, such as the one used for facebook-chat, appear to be open
without proxy, but not many.
(WLAN uses the same proxy + cysco anyconnect VPN)
