I have this issue as well. I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid, up to date as of today, with a custom kernel 2.6.27-8-eeepc, on a eee pc 701 and 2GB RAM (memtest says it's fine). This hardware performed fine with the below sites in Xandros stock distro that came with my eee pc when it had 512MB RAM. Br
