[Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%
Still can't use different scales on my monitors. Need to set 125% on my 32" and 150% on my 43", but it freaks out even with the update on the proposed channel. Still have to set 150% only on the 32", let it jump both monitors to 200%, then tweak it in nvidia-settings. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1870736 Title: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200% To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1870736/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%
I have a Dell u3219q 32" and Dell p4317q with this issue. I'm trying to set 150% on the 32" and 125% on the 43", but it just goes to 200% and or goes blank. And things reset after every reboot, i.e. scaling goes wrong, monitor positioning changes, etc. My workaround is to set fractional scaling on and 200% on both monitors, then go to the nvidia settings -> xserver display configuration -> advanced... and set the following: 32" ViewPortIn 5120x2880 ViewPortOut 3840x2160+0+0 Panning: 5120x2880 43" ViewPortIn 5760x3240 ViewPortOut 3800x2137+20+11 (or just 3840x2160+0+0 if you don't need underscan) Panning: 5760x3240 This gets the scaling as near as possible, but it resets after every reboot even if you save it in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

[Bug 1805173] [NEW] GeographicLib cmake file in wrong place
Public bug reported: The geographiclib-dev installer puts the FindGeographicLib.cmake file in: /usr/share/cmake/geographiclib/FindGeographicLib.cmake The correct location is: /usr/share/cmake-3.5/Modules The first location is not in the cmake path, so it never gets found by cmake and is more or less completely useless by default. When I'm on battery is when the ping times go up to 500+ms. I'm usually plugged in, so I perhaps thought that the compat-wireless fixed it. sudo iwconfig wlan0 power off actually fixed it. AP : Netgear WNDR3800, firmware version 1.0.0.38 (latest). Connection type : 2.4Ghz 802.11n (I tryed changing to 802.11g and this didn't fix it). No other devices have the issue with the AP, including Android, Mac, and this machine on Windows. The distance to the AP is 3 feet, with no obstructions. Changing the distance does not seem to affect the problem. I don't know if the issue occurs with other APs. I'll be taking this laptop to school soon, I'll update when I attempt to connect to another AP. I don't know if this is a regression, this laptop is a brand new warranty replacement, so I haven't ever had this model of wireless card before. [Bug 964301] [NEW] [USB-Audio - Logitech G35 Headset, playback] Not swapping between headphones and speakers
Public bug reported: When removing/adding headphones to the usb port the sound does not automatically revert to/back from the speaker output. I need to go to the sound settings > output > Internal Audio Analogue Stereo When plugging headphones back in I need to repeat the process This also seems to disable the link between my headphone volume control. If I move the volume up or down after putting the headphones back in the port it will move the slider in Banshee, but the volume will stay the same coming through the headphones. To get it to reactivate, I need to go back into sound settings > output > Logitech G35 Headset Analogue Stereo > then move the output slider in this window. This then allows me to use the volume control on my headphones. If this is not a bug, i.e. you have chosen to control the sound output by logging into the settings, then perhaps having the outputs in a dropdown menu in the sound setting so they can be quickly chosen between would be handy. [Bug 509180] Re: ecryptfs sometimes seems to add trailing garbage to encrypted files
I am seeing similar behavior to #159, except my lockups are so frequent that I cannot even use my laptop anymore. I'm running 11.10 64-bit with all the latest updates. I see tons of "Either the lower file is not in a valid eCryptfs format, or the key could not be retrieved. Plaintext passthrough mode is not enabled; returning -EIO" messages in the log files (syslog and kern.log). I noticed that this problem became much much worse after the most recent update. I have ~600,000 files in my home directory, I don't know if that is a contributing factor. Today my laptop froze, requiring reboot (could not even ssh into it) about 15 times. The last time it froze the matlab code that I was writing was completely corrupted (looked at it in a hex editor, totally mangled) upon reboot. I'm going to convert to a non-encrypted home and I'll report back whether the freezes stop (if they don't then it must be something else). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/509180 Title: ecryptfs sometimes seems to add trailing garbage to encrypted files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ecryptfs/+bug/509180/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 728745] Re: [nvidia, 7300, 7400] display freeze when using unity desktop
@ #86 Just installed the 275.09 drivers on Ubuntu 10.04, still has the compiz freezing issue. What I did to get around it (because it is just a display issue) was hit "Alt+F2" and then type (blindly) "metacity --replace" which gave me back my desktop. I can't downgrade because I write and compile CUDA code on this machine for GTX 400 and 500 series and need all the machines to be synced on CUDA SDK, driver, etc. (I have a 7300 GS as my display card, the other cards are GPU computing cards). [Bug 571444] Re: Boot hangs and unable to continue when automount disk in fstab is not available (Off or Disconnected)
This happened to me because for some reason 10.04 does not load the wireless modules prior to attempting to connect to network shares that are in fstab. The network (samba) shares are not able to be found and then the boot just hangs. No shell, nothing, I can only reboot or use the work around, thanks OP for the workaround! This is an extremely serious bug for any non-power user, as fstab must be edited to fix the initial problem, and it basically makes an upgraded system unusable. -- Boot hangs and unable to continue when automount disk in fstab is not available (Off or Disconnected) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571444 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 517571] Re: "Computer hang-up on coping or moving a folder/file"
More testing... It only kernel panicked when I copied a large directory from my internal HDD to my internal HDD. When I gksudo nautilus it appears to work. I also today added another user (I should have done this before but didn't have time) and nautilus appears to work for the other user so there is probably a problem in my home directory (though I deleted all settings under .nautilus and it did not fix the problem). I can reproduce every time in my main account, (not the kernel panic, but the hand and memory/cpu consumption) by copying more than 100 or so files, even if the size is not that big. I would probably return this to unconfirmed or invalid since it only appears to occur with a specific user. I can confirm this bug. On attempting to copy via nautilus (from/to USB drives or from/to network shares) the following occurs : 1. What I believe is the "file operations" dialog box pops up, but it is tiny and never displays anything 2. After 1-2 seconds nautilus hangs and grays out 3. One of my CPUs is maxed out 4. All available RAM is consumed 5. It never crashes just hangs 6. If a copy is attempted with in my SATA drive (i.e internal SATA HDD to internal SATA HDD) my system locks up with a kernel panic (keyboard lights blinking) I have an MSI p965 Platinum MB, E6600 Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, fresh install of 9.10. One thing of note is that I did some partition management before the fresh install, combining two partitions into one and fully deleting my Windows partition. /dev/sda2 is my root, /dev/sda3 is swap and /dev/sda4 is /home. root is ext4 and home is xfs. Martin, Well, you're right. It's not an appropriate workaround after all. My USB ports wouldn't work with UDEV downgraded. I'm back to square one and a major memory leak. The problem seems to now be affecting stability as I've started experiencing freezes as the message has proliferated (while it was just on boot, now the message keeps popping up ad nauseum). I agree with Prosthetic Head (why does that previous fragment sound like a spam message?). This should be ranked higher than medium importance. [Bug 318560] [NEW] Linksys WMP54G bit-rate degrades over time
Public bug reported: I have installed a wireless WMP54G v4.1 adapter. Serial number is MDI40H719803 The following is what happens and is repeatable : If I boot up my wireless is fast, i.e. around 3-4Mbps. This is tested on my internal network. Some time goes by and then my speed degrades to 400-700Kbps. It always does this after about 1-2 hours of being connected. To fix it I reconnect using iwconfig with the following exact commands : iwconfig wlan0 essid "FitchResearch" iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M after which I again get the fast speeds. Again, after 1-2 hours the speeds degrade to 400-700Kbps. This happens every single time. I have switched between wireless channels with no change in behavior. [Bug 273326] Re: artifacts in Intrepid + nvidia binary drivers
PS to bjb1959: No offense take here. I hadn't tried Cairo Dock and your post gave me the opportunity to do so. A little information never hurt anyone, which to me is one of the core values of the open source community. Now that the driver upgrade has fixed my dock, I'll keep on trucking with AWN though. -- artifacts in Intrepid + nvidia binary drivers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/273326 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 273326] Re: artifacts in Intrepid + nvidia binary drivers
I just upgraded the nvidia driver for my geforce 7600gs to 180.06 and my artifact problems are gone (along with some weird window drawing errors I was having).
