[Bug 1881322] Re: Touchpad not detected in 'Lenovo V15-IIL model 82C5' after installing Ubuntu 20.04

2020-07-03 Thread verion GmbH
"i8042.nopnp=1 pci=nocrs" does not cure the problem, it only allows the
touchpad to be recognized as mouse pointer.
In *buntu, under "mouse and touchpads" it is shown as a mouse and no hint of a
touchpad.
So only right and left click plus cursor movement will work, nothing else.

There are some strange kernel panics in the log file that might be
related to this problem, please see attachment. (panics will occur with
5.4, 5.6 and 5.7.7)

[Bug 1348890] Re: Asus UX32LN: Brightness keys Fn+F5 and Fn+F6 don't generate evdev event

2015-05-28 Thread verion GmbH
This bug affects all current ASUS UX305FA models, tested with BIOS 206
and 207 and Kernel 3.19 and up to Kernel 4.0.4 from mainline. Kernel
parameters acpi_osi= or acpi_backlight=intel do not work at all,
acpi_osi only disables the WMI control (possibly another bug).

How are these ACPI events generated? If the BIOS does not supply the
event, maybe it must be enabled with some control sequence? (acpi_listen
mostly doesn't say anything if pressing Fn+F-keys.)

I saw that e.g. for newer hybrid touchpads, you need to initialize the
device with an ACPI command so that it will either work in PS2 or I2C
mode. Otherwise it will either be off or the mode is not what I
wanted. Maybe this works the same way here and we only have to enable
these key events?

[Bug 1342561] [NEW] Touchpad not recognized + Fn Keys not working (ACPI errors)

2014-07-16 Thread verion GmbH
Public bug reported:

The touchpad is not recognized.
The psmouse.proto=bare hotfix does not work.
The i8042.noaux i8042.reset does not work, even though the touchpad would
work in PS2 compat mode (under Win7).

The FN keys are not working at all, probably due to some strange ACPI
decode errors in the syslog.

[Bug 1220146] Re: Need support for new Ralink Wifi card - Mediatek 7630 [14c3:7630]

2014-03-14 Thread verion GmbH
Since the driver from github seems to work with the mtk7630 device, what
is the process to move this upstream?

I think the developer for rt2800 can simply incorporate the changes into the
mainline beta driver and the masses could test it out then.
How is the developer informed about this patch and the severity level?
Since there are zillions of notebooks now shipping with this MediaCrap
hardware, I would think this is one of the more important pieces of hardware to
support with the next kernel release.

[Bug 1220146] Re: Need support for new Ralink Wifi card - Mediatek 7630 [14c3:7630]

2014-02-19 Thread verion GmbH
This bug affects all ASUS P550 notebooks with production date starting from Jan
2014.
They have swapped the reliable Atheros Wifi/BT controller with this MediaCrap
module 7630.

I have asked MediaTek (through webform and via mail) and they did not respond.
I wonder if they do exist at all or are just a marketing department of Foxconn
(they produce all the Mediatek cards).
I have asked ASUS and they told me the Mediatek was the same as Ralink 2800
module, so no problem with Windows drivers.

Anybody knows how to add the PCI ID from the MediaCrap 7630 module into the
ralink driver?
I had a look into the r2x00 driver and it seems pretty weird, at least there
was no PCI ID list in the source.

[Bug 595094] Re: Inaudible sound on Asus EeeTop ET2203

2010-09-12 Thread verion GmbH
Same problem with ASUS Eeetop 1610 (infamous Realtek ALC887).
Mic-In works (from headset or built-in Mic), but speakers or headset won't.
Tried with Ubuntu 10.04 alsa and also updated to alsa 1.0.23 - still no sound.
