[Bug 497666] [NEW] Fresh install of Karmic 64bit doesn't boot
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity I was trying to install Ubuntu 9.10 from this DVD image http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/9.10/release/ubuntu-9.10-dvd- amd64.iso My hard drive is split to two partitions, /dev/sda1 is mounted as /home and /dev/sda5 is mounted as root. I had previously installed ubuntu. I have made a fresg install of the on /dev/sda5 without formatting and with option Install boot loader. Everything went fine until the last message about removing dvd from the tray and pressing enter to reboot. After reboot I was observing blank screen for some time and then a message appeared chroot: cannot execute /etc/apparmor/initramfs: exec format error and that's all. When I brought up grub's menu, I've seen old kernels which were present in previously installing system. Karmic 32bit has successfully installed this way. [Bug 333479] [NEW] Plasma doesn't start
Public bug reported: When I log in to the KDE session, I see the progress bar with the icons appearing from a blur and hear a music. Then I observe the black screen and the mouse pointer, nothing else. If I press Alt-F2, I can see the program launch dialog. If I enter 'plasma' in it, then the taskbar and the desktop wallpaper, and other plasmoids appear. The file ~/.xsession-errors contains the following lines, related to plasma: klauncher(17532) KConfigGroup::readXdgListEntry: List entry Categories in /usr/share/applications/screensavers/plasma.desktop is not compliant with XDG standard (missing trailing semicolon). kdeinit4: preparing to launch /usr/bin/plasma unknown program name(17638)/ checkComposite: Plasma has an argb visual 0x91f99b0 23068673 unknown program name(17638)/ checkComposite: Plasma can use COMPOSITE for effects on 0x91f2128 plasma: Unknown option 'r'. plasma: Use --help to get a list of available command line options. I've searched for plasma in this file, it contains some more occurances, but all of them are plasma in quotes and issued by the nepomuk. Then, I've found that file, /usr/share/applications/screensavers/plasma.desktop, it contained the call /usr/bin/plasma -r. This file has come from the package rss-glx, which has provided the OpenGL screensaver plasma. [Bug 307943] Re: Amarok cannot transfer files from my ipod to my collection
You didn't specify your Ubuntu version. Perhaps, you should upgrade in to 8.10 Anyway, I can give you only a general direction to search. 1. Bring up the terminal window, plug in your device and type 'mount'. You'll see a list of filesystems. 2. Find your ipod mount point. Basing on your screenshot, it probably will be /media/LAZYBOY994 3. Note the device id ( /dev/ .. what? ), the type of the filesystem and list of options. 4 .Type ls -la /media/LAZYBOY/iPod_Control/Music/ You should see a list of folders named F??, where ?? are digits (F01, F02, etc). Letters should be capital. With my fstab, left from the previous Ubuntu version, I was seeing small letters (f01, f02, etc ) 5. Unmount the device ('umount /media/LAZYBOY994') Probably you'll need to run the command with sudo ('sudo umount etc') 6. Type 'man mount' and study this manual page. 7. Type 'sudo mkdir /media/ipod' type sudo 'chown you:your_groupd /media/ipod' (substitute you:your_group with actual names) 8. Repeat 'mount /dev/ ipod device /media -t vfat -o options' (substitute options with actual values learned from the manual) and unmount, if unsuccessful, until you see capital letters in iPod_Control/Music -- Amarok cannot transfer files from my ipod to my collection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/307943 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 307943] Re: Amarok cannot transfer files from my ipod to my collection
Ha! I've solved the problem. I had in my /etc/fstab the following two lines: /dev/sdf1 /media/sdf1 auto users,noauto,atime,auto,rw,nodev,noexec,nosuid,iocharset=utf8 0 0 /dev/sdg1 /media/sdg1 auto users,noauto,atime,auto,rw,nodev,noexec,nosuid,iocharset=utf8 0 0 They helped Amarok to properly disconnect the ipod I just commented them out. -- Amarok cannot transfer files from my ipod to my collection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/307943 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 307943] Re: Amarok cannot transfer files from my ipod to my collection
Forgot to mention, I've recently upgraded my Ubuntu to 8.10. I have never paid too much attention to these lines, I just copied them to fstab from the output of the mount command. Moreover, now I see, these lines are incorrect: they have noauto and auto. -- Amarok cannot transfer files from my ipod to my collection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/307943 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to amarok in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
