[Bug 1958702] [NEW] nVidia driver version 460 doesn't build with kernel version 5.14

2022-01-22 Thread wl2776
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to install OEM Linux kernel

nVidia driver is not installed, the error is

```
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.14.0-1020-oem (x86_64)
Consult /var/lib/dkms/nvidia/460.91.03/build/make.log for more information.
```

I am attaching two log files showing compiler errors, emitted during
compilation of nVidia modules.

Output of the "apt install" follows

```
$ sudo apt install linux-oem-20.04d
[Bug 1860404] Re: No kernel modules with sound drivers
2020-01-22 Thread wl2776
I have tried
sudo apt install linux-modules-extra-$(uname -r)
and it worked.
Now I have sound.
Strange that this package was not installed automatically on upgrade
[Bug 1860404] [NEW] No kernel modules with sound drivers
2020-01-20 Thread wl2776
Public bug reported:
The problem: after recent upgrade of the kernel to version 5.3-26 there is no
sound.
All recent updates are installed.
I use KDE. And KDE system settings show only one output device "Dummy output"
Output of the command `lsmod | grep snd` is empty.
Here is the output of the `lspci -nnk`:
00:1f.3 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 100 Series/C230 Series Chipset
Family HD Audio Controller [8086:a170] (rev 31)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Sunrise Point-H HD Audio [1043:86c7]
01:00.1 Audio device [0403]: NVIDIA Corporation GP102 HDMI Audio Controller
[10de:10ef] (rev a1)
Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd GP102 HDMI Audio Controller
[1458:374c]
Here is the output of `uname -a`:
Linux ubx64 5.3.0-26-generic #28~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Dec 18
16:40:14 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
If I load previous version of the kernel, 4-15, the sound appears.
After some investigation I've found that the sound on my PC is handled by the
snd_hda_intel kernel module.
For the kernel version 4.15 this module is contained in the package
"linux-modules-extra-4.15".
Similar package for the 5.3 kernel, "linux-modules-extra-5.3", is absent
[Bug 482985] Re: openshot won't open in Ubuntu 9.10
2010-01-20 Thread wl2776
I've did some research and have found the following.
Packaging of libmlt++ is incorrect.
File /usr/lib/libmlt++.so.2 is listed somewhere in the package contents, but it
is not included in the package.
File /usr/lib/libmlt++.so is included only in the -dev package (libmlt++-dev).
Here is the output of several comands on my system - Karmik with all
updates
$ apt-file search libmlt++
libmlt++-dev: /usr/lib/libmlt++.so
libmlt++-dev: /usr/share/doc/libmlt++-dev/changelog.Debian.gz
libmlt++-dev: /usr/share/doc/libmlt++-dev/changelog.gz
libmlt++-dev: /usr/share/doc/libmlt++-dev/copyright
libmlt++2: /usr/lib/libmlt++.so.0.4.4
libmlt++2: /usr/lib/libmlt++.so.2
libmlt++2: /usr/share/doc/libmlt++2/changelog.Debian.gz
libmlt++2: /usr/share/doc/libmlt++2/changelog.gz
libmlt++2: /usr/share/doc/libmlt++2/copyright
$ aptitude show libmlt++2
Package: libmlt++2
State: installed
However, my system doesn't contain a file  /usr/lib/libmlt++.so.2
$ locate libmlt++.so.2
$
$ dpkg -L libmlt++2
/.
/usr
/usr/share
/usr/share/doc
/usr/share/doc/libmlt++2
/usr/share/doc/libmlt++2/copyright
/usr/lib
/usr/lib/libmlt++.so.0.4.10
/usr/share/doc/libmlt++2/NEWS.gz
/usr/share/doc/libmlt++2/changelog.gz
/usr/share/doc/libmlt++2/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/share/doc/libmlt++2/AUTHORS
/usr/share/doc/libmlt++2/README
/usr/lib/libmlt++.so.3
$ apt-file search /usr/lib/libmlt++.so.2
libmlt++2: /usr/lib/libmlt++.so.2
I think, libmlt++ should be repackaged to include libmlt++.so, and
libmlt++.so.2. Probably, these should be symbolic links to the actual .so file
(libmlt++.so.0.4.10).
2010-01-19 Thread wl2776
Oups... Again, same thing here.
*** ERROR: MLT Python bindings failed to import ***
Not sure, why this has worked previous time in the bug #501310.
I've run the interactive python prompt and tried importing mlt:
$ python
Looks like mlt python bindings are bound to the old version of the mlt.
[Bug 497666] [NEW] Fresh install of Karmic 64bit doesn't boot
2009-12-17 Thread wl2776
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: ubiquity
I was trying to install Ubuntu 9.10 from this DVD image
http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/9.10/release/ubuntu-9.10-dvd-
amd64.iso
My hard drive is split to two partitions, /dev/sda1 is mounted as /home and
/dev/sda5 is mounted as root.
I had previously installed ubuntu. I have made a fresg install of the on
/dev/sda5 without formatting and with option Install boot loader.
Everything went fine until the last message about removing dvd from the
tray and pressing enter to reboot.
After reboot I was observing blank screen for some time and then a message
appeared
chroot: cannot execute /etc/apparmor/initramfs: exec format error
and that's all.
When I brought up grub's menu, I've seen old kernels which were present
in previously installing system.
Karmic 32bit has successfully installed this way.
Unfortunately, I cannot attach any log files, because this is my working
computer and I had to install an operating system and return to my duties.
[Bug 333479] [NEW] Plasma doesn't start
2009-02-23 Thread wl2776
Public bug reported:
When I log in to the KDE session, I see the progress bar with the icons
appearing from a blur and hear a music.
Then I observe the black screen and the mouse pointer, nothing else.
If I press Alt-F2, I can see the program launch dialog.
If I enter 'plasma' in it, then the taskbar and the desktop wallpaper, and
other plasmoids appear.
The file ~/.xsession-errors contains the following lines, related to
plasma:
klauncher(17532) KConfigGroup::readXdgListEntry: List entry Categories in
/usr/share/applications/screensavers/plasma.desktop is not compliant with XDG
standard (missing trailing semicolon).
kdeinit4: preparing to launch /usr/bin/plasma
unknown program name(17638)/ checkComposite: Plasma can use COMPOSITE for
effects on 0x91f2128
plasma: Unknown option 'r'.
plasma: Use --help to get a list of available command line options.
I've searched for plasma in this file, it contains some more occurances,
but all of them are plasma in quotes and issued by the nepomuk.
Then, I've found that file,
/usr/share/applications/screensavers/plasma.desktop, it contained the call
/usr/bin/plasma -r.
This file has come from the package rss-glx, which has provided the OpenGL
screensaver plasma.
I have removed this package and removed ~/.plasmarc and
~/.plasmaappletsrc (? doubts about the latter name) - didn't help.
I use Ubuntu 8.10 with the latest updates.
[Bug 331013] [NEW] KRDC cuts the lower screen edge
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: compiz
When connecting to a windows host using krdc, the lower screen edge with
taskbar is cut out (see attachment with screenshots).
This happens when I set the Desktop resolution to 800x600 or 1024x768.
If I set the resolution to 1280x1024 the taskbar is seen.
[Bug 322665] [NEW] Krusader2 starts without window decorations with compiz
2009-01-29 Thread wl2776
Public bug reported:
When I start krusader 2, its window titlebar with the application name
and buttons for window minimizing, maximizing and closing (window
decoration) is not shown.
If I switch off compiz and replace it with metacity or kwin, krusader's
titlebar appears
This has happened after update to KDE 4.2
I tried several Krusader versions: 2.0-svn6078, and 2.0.0-beta2-1 - same thing.
The decoration appears, if I right-click on the krusader's icon in KDE's
taskbar, call the context menu and uncheck 'full-screen' option.
Other users experience similar problem with kmail.
http://forum.ubuntu.ru/index.php?topic=46868.0 - this link is in russian,
however, the screenshots should describe the problem.
[Bug 307943] Re: Amarok cannot transfer files from my ipod to my collection
2008-12-22 Thread wl2776
It looks like you didn't study the manual (step 6) and didn't learn what
the command 'mount' is for and how to use it.
[Bug 307943] Re: Amarok cannot transfer files from my ipod to my collection
2008-12-19 Thread wl2776
You didn't specify your Ubuntu version.
Perhaps, you should upgrade in to 8.10
Anyway, I can give you only a general direction to search.
1. Bring up the terminal window, plug in your device and type 'mount'.
You'll see a list of filesystems.
2. Find your ipod mount point. Basing on your screenshot, it probably
will be /media/LAZYBOY994
3. Note the device id ( /dev/ .. what? ), the type of the filesystem and
list of options.
4 .Type ls -la /media/LAZYBOY/iPod_Control/Music/
You should see a list of folders named F??, where ?? are digits (F01, F02,
etc). Letters should be capital.
With my fstab, left from the previous Ubuntu version, I was seeing small
letters (f01, f02, etc )
5. Unmount the device ('umount /media/LAZYBOY994')
Probably you'll need to run the command with sudo ('sudo umount etc')
6. Type 'man mount' and study this manual page.
7. Type 'sudo mkdir /media/ipod'
type sudo 'chown you:your_groupd /media/ipod' (substitute you:your_group with
actual names)
8. Repeat 'mount /dev/ ipod device /media -t vfat -o options' (substitute
options with actual values learned from the manual)
and unmount, if unsuccessful, until you see capital letters in
iPod_Control/Music
[Bug 307943] Re: Amarok cannot transfer files from my ipod to my collection
2008-12-17 Thread wl2776
Ha!
I've solved the problem.
I had in my /etc/fstab the following two lines:
/dev/sdf1   /media/sdf1 auto
users,noauto,atime,auto,rw,nodev,noexec,nosuid,iocharset=utf8 0 0
/dev/sdg1   /media/sdg1 auto
users,noauto,atime,auto,rw,nodev,noexec,nosuid,iocharset=utf8 0 0
They helped Amarok to properly disconnect the ipod
I just commented them out.
[Bug 307943] Re: Amarok cannot transfer files from my ipod to my collection
2008-12-17 Thread wl2776
Forgot to mention, I've recently upgraded my Ubuntu to 8.10.
I have never paid too much attention to these lines, I just copied them to
fstab from the output of the mount command.
Moreover, now I see, these lines are incorrect: they have noauto and auto.
So am I.
In short, your fstab is default, as was installed.
I can only recommend to add a line to fstab, descibing the ipod, and play with
mount options.
Here is the output of the mount command on my system, when ipod is
mounted, those lines for ipod in /etc/fstab are still commented.
/dev/sdf1 on /media/IPOD WL type vfat
2008-12-15 Thread wl2776
This bug has already appeared in previous Ubuntu releases, and was
fixed. Now it is back again :((
This is because the capital F in the path (... /Music/F ... ).
There is no such folder on the iPod, actual folder names begin with the small f.
Cannot compile win32 version of the latest FFmpeg, it needs newer versions
[Bug 306542] [NEW] FFmpeg needs mingw32 runtime =3.15 and win32 API =3.13 to compile
2008-12-09 Thread wl2776
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: mingw32-runtime
It is rather a wish than a bug.
When trying to compile the latest revision of FFmpeg, ./configure gives
the following error
ERROR: MinGW runtime version must be = 3.15.
I've downloaded the tarball from the mingw site and unpacked it to
/usr/i586-mingw32msvc/
Then, FFmpeg wanted Win32 API =3.13:
ERROR: avisynth and vfwcap_demuxer require w32api version 3.13 or later.
I've downloaded the revision 16038 of FFmpeg.
[Bug 244441] [NEW] fish:// and smb:// don't work in KDE3 application with KDE4 installed
2008-07-01 Thread wl2776
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: krusader
When trying to connect to a host in the local network over fish:// or browse
the network with smb:// nothing happens.
Krusader writes Connecting... and that's all, it neither doesn't ask for
password nor doesn't show a file list or a computer list.
Same thing happens with the Konqueror/KDE3 and Dolphin/KDE3
KDE4's Konqueror and Dolphin successfully connect to remote hosts and
then the wallet shows up in the system tray.
If I delete ~/.kde/share/config/kwalletrc then log out and log in back,
everything is working until the next logout.
$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04
I use Krusader 1.90.0, and KDE3.5.9 and KDE4.1
Installed versions of the kubuntu-kde-desktop package is  1.75, and of the
kubuntu-kde4-desktop package is
0.14-0ubuntu1~hardy1~ppa1
