[Bug 741519] Re: Problem unpacking replacement ubuntu-mono

2011-03-24 Thread wolfger
Well, I didn't time it... there was a flicker to the term window, as
though maybe the screen full of text kept being re-outputted. I let that
continue for a minute or so, then I copied the above warning and
instinctively hit ctrl-c to copy (but in a term window, that's break,
not copy) at which point the upgrade completed. Which I would not have
expected after a ctrl-c...

OK, I removed both accounts and also re-added Identica with no problem.
I then removed Gwibber from my system, and also removed

Installed: 2.91.92-0ubuntu1 and I was unable to duplicate the issue.

I guess I'm going to assume that the new version fixed the issue or the

[Bug 687692] Re: Realtek 8191SEvB wireless card drops connections and can't reconnect without reboot

2011-03-16 Thread wolfger
To avoid restarting, you should be able to recover wifi by executing the
following commands:
sudo rmmod r8192se_pci
sudo modprobe r8192se_pci

However, sometimes (and I can't seem to figure any pattern to it) the
modprobe command will completely lock up my system. Also, you will lose
wifi again. I wind up executing these commands many times per hour.

Still an issue for me, in Natty. Doesn't actually require reboot

[Bug 285050] Re: Improvements to search in Adept3

2010-04-10 Thread wolfger
Can somebody explain to me why, in the past 17 months the only action
taken on this bug is to reduce the importance from High to Wishlist (by
the same person who set it to High in the first place)? This is really
sad. Inability to do a proper search is not a wishlist issue. Maybe the
point is moot now that KPackageKit is the package manager of choice? If
so, then just be honest and mark "Won't Fix". Crap like this is what
makes me think I'm just wasting my time trying to contribute to Ubuntu
bug triage. We rarely fix anything, we just fiddle about on launchpad
until the problem goes away (or the people who complained in the first
place lose interest).

FYI: it's still hopelessly broken on Karmic.

Guess I'll do my triage bit here, mark it incomplete, and ask if
anybody's having this problem on the latest Lucid? Next month we can
mark it incomplete again and ask if it's still a problem on the latest
Maverick...

[Bug 538589] [NEW] ezstream man page in incomplete and incorrect.

2010-03-13 Thread wolfger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ezstream

Man page says:
"ezstream [-h] [-c CONFIGFILE]"

This indicates only two possible flags, and also indicates that -c is
optional.

Running "ezstream" produces this:
"You must supply a config file with the -c argument.
usage: ezstream [-hnqVv] -c configfile"

Here we see that -c is required, and also the existence of 4 other
undocumented flags.

Also, standard Ubuntu user will have no idea where the config file is,
how to find it, or how to create one, making this package typically
unusable. Ubuntu should do something to make this package more user
friendly, I think. (but this is probably deserving of its own "wishlist"
bug)

[Bug 196037] Re: /etc/icecast2 only root access

2010-03-13 Thread wolfger
This should be more than just "wishlist" importance. Icecast can't read
the config file if run by user, and if you try "sudo icecast" it tells
you not to run icecast as admin. This makes icecast as installed
unusable.

This was fixed in Debian pre-Karmic, but problem still exists in Karmic.

[Bug 400122] [NEW] quassel URL preview causes segfault

2009-07-16 Thread wolfger
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 9.04
Release:9.04

quassel:
  Installed: 0.4.1-0ubuntu3
  Candidate: 0.4.1-0ubuntu3
  Version table:
 *** 0.4.1-0ubuntu3 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

When hovering over a URL for a preview of the link, Quassel suddenly
(and repeatably) segfaulted. This has never happened before, and I am
not sure if it is specific to the URL. The message from the command line
is:

Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module":
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/modules/libcanberra-gtk-module.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: failed to initialize brower-side RPC events

Quassel IRC: "0.4.1" "b5798a1041d83a7118b7e9b7cffd4d5307a72d0e"
Segmentation fault

Until yesterday or the day before I have never had libcanberra-gtk-
module installed. I installed it as a prerequisite for some software not
in the Ubuntu repositories. Wondering if maybe its presence on the
system is causing this problem.

The URL crashed on is
http://www.freep.com/article/20090715/NEWS03/90715083/ and the crash
does not occur until the preview is almost completely loaded.

Just tried another URL http://weierophinney.net/matthew/archives/134
-exuberant-ctags-with-PHP-in-Vim.html and it did not crash, and no
messages output to the command line.

Tried the offending URL again, and it crashed again with a slightly
different output:

Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module":
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/modules/libcanberra-gtk-module.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: failed to initialize brower-side RPC events

Uninstalled libcanberra-gtk-module and now the crash triggers the KDE
Crash Handler (which it did not before), but the crash handler reports
it is unable to create a valid backtrace. The command line now reports:

[Bug 387749] [NEW] Choqok stopped displaying Twitter updates

2009-06-16 Thread wolfger
Public bug reported:

Sometime last week, Choqok started hiccupping on Twitter. It would
display 1 or 2 new statuses, but the tab would indicate 30 or 60 or
1,345 unread statuses. Then it stopped displaying new statuses
altogether. My Laconica/Identi.ca account is completely unaffected.

I deleted and re-added my Twitter account, and now I only see a single
status message on the Home tab (been this way for 2 or 3 days) but my
Replies, Inbox, and Outbox tabs all seem to be fine. I think this may be
related to the "twitpocalypse" bug that hit Gnome Do's twitter plug-in:

[Bug 355088] [NEW] Renaming files causes Dolphin to shift focus to "top" file.

2009-04-04 Thread wolfger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dolphin

1) lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release:9.04

2) apt-cache policy dolphin
dolphin:
  Installed: 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) With Dolphin in "details" view, I am renaming a sequence of files. I
expect to be able to rename, down-arrow, and rename the next file. This
works in Konqueror and in Windows Explorer, and I'm pretty sure (though
not positive) it worked in Intrepid's Dolphin.

4) What happens here is that when I rename a file, the focus shifts back
to the top file or folder in the directory listing. This means after
each rename I have to grab the mouse (or press and hold down-arrow) and
scroll through the directory to get back to where I just was a second
ago. If I enter the rename dialog and do not actually change the name,
the focus remains where it ought to. This error only occurs when the
file name actually changes.

[Bug 351708] Re: Gwibber can't add an account

I should probably add that this is *Kubuntu*, not Ubuntu as stated above
(from the lsb_release -rd command). It's also 64-bit. Output from the
command line complains of not being able to talk to gnome-keyring, so
that could be the key. I'm attaching that output.

[Bug 351708] [NEW] Gwibber can't add an account

2009-03-30 Thread wolfger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gwibber

Description:Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release:9.04
(beta 1)

gwibber:
  Installed: 0.8-0ubuntu3
  Candidate: 0.8-0ubuntu3
  Version table:
 *** 0.8-0ubuntu3 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Upon starting Gwibber, I attempted to add a Twitter account. I am able
to fill out all fields in the account creation box, but there is no "OK"
button, just a "Close" button and a "Delete" button. Pressing the Close
button does nothing. Pressing the "Delete" button does nothing either.
I can only get out by clicking the X in the titlebar. When I go to
Manage Accounts, I see a number of accounts there, but they have no
username associated with them, and are not set to send or receive
(despite me having checked those boxes during creation).

[Bug 248661] Re: yakuake can not get activated.

2009-03-10 Thread wolfger
I've had this problem for a while now too, just too lazy to report it. I
did define a custom key (scroll-lock) and used it successfully for quite
some time, then one day it just quit. If I open the window (from the
start menu, selecting Yakuake) I can close it using the shortcut, but I
can't reopen it. Defining anything else as the shortcut does not have
any effect.

I am using Yakuake Version 2.9.3 Using KDE 4.1.4 (KDE 4.1.4) on
Intrepid, although I am running the KDE-nightly repo, so I don't believe
that KDE version is accurate (and since my KDE is non-standard, I'm not
sure my participation in this bug is helpful)

Tried to delete ~/.kde/share/config/yakuakerc but that did not work. On
first run it asks me to define a key, but it does not actually set any
key. I manually open the shortcuts and set it there and I am back to
where I started. The shortcut will close the window but not open it.

2009-02-21 Thread wolfger
Cleaning up old untouched "incomplete" bugs today, I found this one that should
never have been marked incomplete.
Now I need to ask, is this still an issue?

For future reference, "incomplete" is for:
# If you have to ask the reporter questions, set the bug to Incomplete
# Ask the submitter to provide any necessary information in a comment, and make
sure you subscribe yourself to the bug report so you will get any updates to
the bug via e-mail.
# In the event that a bug has been in the "Incomplete" state for more than 4
weeks, meaning it has not received a response to a request for more information
and there is no way someone can work with the bug, the bug status should be
changed to "Invalid"

[Bug 187058] Re: memaker crashed with IOError in saveAsChanged()

2009-02-21 Thread wolfger
Several new versions of MeMaker have been released since this bug was
filed. I'm assuming this has been fixed somewhere in there. Please
confirm?

[Bug 241844] Re: device-mapper fails after upgrade to hardy

2009-02-21 Thread wolfger
I'm setting to "invalid" since you have fixed your problem, and UUID
(which you manually implemented) is the default for Ubuntu. If you feel
this bug still needs to be fixed, please reopen it by setting the status
back to new, and explaining what you believe the problem to be.

[Bug 216558] Re: Font size differs a lot between size 10 and 11

2009-02-21 Thread wolfger
OK, it's not dejavu, and the original reporter no longer uses the system
that had the issue, so I'm marking this bug invalid.

[Bug 300106] Re: USB optical mouse goes dead

2009-01-09 Thread wolfger
Is it ok to provide this from a time when the mouse is working, or do
you need it when the mouse dies? Here's the working version. I have
actually not had the mouse die again for quite some time.
