[Bug 1865410] Re: Gnome Shell freeze

2020-03-03 Thread wolfy1339
The only crashes I can find on my system have all been uploaded already.

There also, doesn't seem to be anything related to firefox (the browser
in use at the time of the crash) or gnome-shell.

However, there are some recent crashes: (all on 2020-02-27)

I had to force-shutdown my machine, and I booted an older kernel (which
is the one in the bug report), the proper kernel version in use at the
time of the bug was linux-image-5.4.0-14-generic
(5.4.0-14.17)

[Bug 1865410] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2020-03-01 Thread wolfy1339
Public bug reported:

My Nvidia GPU is set to on-demand mode, so it uses the integrated intel
iGPU for most of the every day tasks.

This hang seems to happen when watching media (1080p @ 11605 kbps in
H.264 in MKV container with EAC3 5.1 sound) and then switching to a
resource intensive tab, which loads up lot's of media (ex: Reddit)

[Bug 1468107] [NEW] Kernel Panic on Surface Pro

2015-06-23 Thread wolfy1339
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 15.04 on a Surface Pro (1st gen), dual-boting with Windows
8.1 and the linux kernel 3.19 is causing a kernel panic. The last kernel
working was 3.16.0-38.
I couldn't get any stack-trace (maybe apport has one), since my computer froze
and i was on the desktop and wasn't on tty.
The only way I could reproduce is to boot up ubuntu then open up an application
for example Software Updater.

[Bug 1291494] [NEW] Supybot is dearly outdated

2014-03-12 Thread wolfy1339
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

1. Supybot hasn't received any updates since 2005

2. There are many security issues with it:
a.Anyone can crash it and computer where it's running on, just run the command
!misc last --regexp m/(.*\w){512}/
Where ! is the command char.

b. Another way to crash it and computer where it's running on, just run the
command !math calc factorial(99)
Where ! is the command char.

c. Anyone can access network services via the bot. I don't have example command
for this, but it happens by nesting format cut and misc tell.
d.Web page with special characters in title can be used to send DCC/CTCP
commands. This doesn't mean only things like CTCP actions (also known as /me),
but known problems with old routers ( FF ? DCC SEND “ff???f??” 0 0
0 ) which make them reconnect to the internet.
Usage:
!web title malicious.page.here
!web fetch malicious.page.here
NOTICE: WEB FETCH IS DISABLED BY DEFAULT

3. Choose one of it's forks like Limnoria instead of Supybot.

 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 1285822] [NEW] Kernel panic at boot

2014-02-27 Thread wolfy1339
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 14.04
Kernel: 3.13-10, and the two releasees after that.
Device: Microsoft Surface Pro (1st gen)

I updated packages on 14.04 including linux-firmware and linux kernels a few
weeks back.
Once these updates were done, I rebooted my PC and a kernel panic happens evry
time I boot from there on.
I currently have no access to the os hdd except read/write from the Live-CD.

Kernel Panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! exitcode=0x0100

I will later atach a photo of the screen with the whole error.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1285822] Re: Kernel panic at boot

2014-02-27 Thread wolfy1339
I cannot even boot at all even using the recovery options.
All the kernels give a kernel panic.
What good is it to download the latest kernel if i can't boot into ubuntu?
