Rats, I got another total lockup, even using the 3.0 kernel from ubuntu
11.10. It did last 10 days before the system freeze though, so that was
a big improvement over a freeze every day. I'm using xfce4 as my
desktop.

I've managed to solve my problem by using kernel 3.0.0-17-generic x86_64
from 11.10, and I've gone a couple days now without any lockup.

I've been using the last kernel released with 11.10 since my crash
yesterday. So far, I haven't had any problems. If I can last another
day, I'll be 95% sure that solved the problem. I don't think I've gone
2 days since my upgrade on this computer. Oddly enough, I've upgraded 3
other laptops
It looks like we may have two separate bugs. People who have their
xsession mostly freeze but can still access the console and move the
mouse, and those whose systems completely lock up. I'm getting the
'completely locked up' problem.
