[Bug 704535] [NEW] Screen locker fails to activate with modal windows present

2011-01-18 Thread yourpalal
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

I'm not actually certain it was a modal window, but I think so. What
happened was I turned on my computer and walked away to do dishes. Then,
when I cam back, the screen was not locked, but the gnome-keyring
password request window was up. After entering my password and the
keyring window closing, gnome-screensaver activated and locked my
computer. It wasn't a big hassle, but I certainly wasn't inactive when
it locked, and I certainly was inactive when it wasn't locked.

** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

I agree, this is also inconsistent with other utilities eg. network
manager etc. and should be changed.

[Bug 279237] [NEW] light fonts are difficult to read under some conditions

2008-10-06 Thread yourpalal
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-artwork

Although there are some bug reports for this already, they are under
specific apps or dialogs, so I felt compelled to enter my own report.
The new theme is very nice, however sometimes the light fonts are placed
on light backgrounds, creating nearly impossible to read text. Attached
is a screenshot of firefox, although other programs are also affected.

Another example is IDLE - the code completion feature as well as the
docstring tooltip

Also dark fonts may occasionally be placed on a dark background,
resulting in a similar problem.

[Bug 279237] Re: light fonts are difficult to read under some conditions

2008-10-06 Thread yourpalal
Here is what I have done as a workaround (which I think is quite nice
looking)

under appearances - new human - colors - input boxes I have switched
this color to #908174, which allows for readability of both light and
dark text as well as fitting in nicely with the rest of the color
scheme.

[Bug 274203] Re: Joystick detected as mouse, crashes X

2008-10-05 Thread yourpalal
This also affects me, I am running intrepid amd64 and the joystick that
is crashing it is a ps3 rock band drum kit. It does not instantly crash
X, but rather upon hitting one of the pads, I can quickly and easily
restart X! This is a regression from 8.04 and the version of X therein,
as I know that this 'joystick' was completely functional in that
environment.

[Bug 277898] [NEW] xorg crashes upon first keystroke

2008-10-03 Thread yourpalal
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

This could also be gdm, couldn't find anything of relevance in xorg log
or kernel log, if you have any ideas just comment, I can try whatever...
To be clear it is the first keystroke at the gdm login which seems to
restart X.

[Bug 275713] Re: sudo does not recognize bash aliases

A workaround for anyone else experiencing this problem is to spawn a
root terminal for example 'sudo xterm' and then run your aliases from
there.

[Bug 212956] [NEW] black bar on log out in kubuntu hardy ix86

2008-04-06 Thread yourpalal
Public bug reported:

Upon logging out from my hardy beta kubuntu installation a black bar
scrolls down the screen, approximately an inch away from where the
desaturation fade is. as the screen fades to greyscale the black bar
recedes accordingly. This is not urgent, but it does affect how some
users will see the distro, and therefore conflicts with bug #1. On a
related note this did not happen with my gutsy installation of kubuntu.
