[Bug 1366049] Re: Distinguish between click build failing and click build succeeding, but validation failing

2014-10-14 Thread zbenjamin
We are now using click build --no-validate to create the click package and
run click-review as an extra step right after it.
So there is no need anymore to force the return code to be 0 in case validation

[Bug 1367304] [NEW] adbd crashes if adb root is used

2014-09-09 Thread zbenjamin
Public bug reported:

adbd crashes when adb root is used, instead it should be a noop,
this came up because the Ubuntu SDK is using adb root in one of the
device detection scripts (Line 27):

http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/8300137/

ogra_ zbenjamin, on android adbd starts as the shell user and with adb root
you can switch to a full root user mode
ogra_ we dont allow that at all
zbenjamin ogra_: sergiusens: ah ok
zbenjamin thanks
ogra_ zbenjamin, so a bug against android-tools would help ... adbd should
not crash ... it should just be a no-op
sergiusens zbenjamin: you probably can get rid of the adb_root function
comletely
ogra_ zbenjamin, feel free to assign me directly

[Bug 1360582] Re: Can't manually install clicks Signature verification error since #205

2014-08-25 Thread zbenjamin
This bug also breaks the SDK (running application on the phone from QtCreator),
since we use pkcon-local to install click packages. Our app launcher script
needs to run as phablet user,
so we have no way of running click install --allow-unauthenticated.

[Bug 1355286] Re: phablet-shell conflicts with how SDK sets up ssh keys

2014-08-20 Thread zbenjamin
Out of curiousity, why does phablet-shell not add the key it needs to
authorized_keys instead of completely overwriting it.
This is what the SDK does:

echo $KEY /home/$USERNAME/.ssh/authorized_keys2

Also we do not use keys per device anymore but create one key in
~/.config/ubuntu-sdk/ubuntudevice_id_rsa
which is used for all devices.

[Bug 1336187] Re: where do the installation files go

2014-07-04 Thread zbenjamin
While Qt allows installing multiple versions in the system, the debian packaging
scheme does not atm. Since we are follwing that scheme closely this is not a bug
but a design decision.

Marked as invalid, because its not a bug.

[Bug 1280789] Re: When importing a cmake project there's no option to run it through the click chroot

2014-06-10 Thread zbenjamin
When first loading a project, only the CMake that belongs to the primary
selected Kit is run.
If you switch to a Ubuntu SDK kit type, then the cmake for that one is run.
This behaviour is
intended. Even if i would run cmake for all project configurations in the
beginning i would again need
to run it when the user switches between the configurations.

Please check if it works for you when you switch to a UbuntuSDK Kit.

[Bug 1324555] Re: Run application on Device does not work on emulator

2014-06-10 Thread zbenjamin
We have 2 different problems here, the problem Pat reported is already
fixed: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu/+bug/1327066.
It came up because the launcher was renamed from UpstartAppLaunch to
UbuntuAppLaunch.

@Rick could you please upload your project somewhere so we can try to reproduce
the problem.
Also please check the output of: 'bzr launchpad-login' which is used to create
the package name and
also '/usr/share/qtcreator/ubuntu/scripts/qtc_bzr_info'.

[Bug 1328486] Re: Cannot build Reminders for the emulator

2014-06-10 Thread zbenjamin
** Description changed:

I was trying to get Reminders built and running on the x86 emulator, and
  stumbled upon this issue:

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Create a 14.10 x86 chroot: sudo click chroot -a i386 -f ubuntu-sdk-14.10
create (see bug 1328436)
  2. Create an emulator instance from Qt Creator: Devices Add emulator
(arrow), then select i386 as arch, a name and press Create
  3. Once created, on the Devices tab follow the Qt Creator prompt to
automatically create a Kit for the emulator
  4. Add the build dependencies to build Reminders - Tools Options
Maintain, then select the newly created utopic chroot
  5. On the terminal that opens, run: apt-get install libssl-dev:armhf python3
  6. Check out Reminders: bzr branch lp:reminders-app
  7. Open the Reminders CMakeLists.txt file with Qt Creator
  8. Make sure you select the emulator kit upon configuration
  9. Ensure again that on the left panel you've got the emulator kit selected
  10. Press build

  Actual:
  - Reminders fails to build with automoc errors:
http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/7622792/

  Expected:
  - Reminders builds without errors as with any other target
+
+ #EDIT
+ This problem affects all projects not just reminders building for the
emulator.
+ It seems the x86 chroot is not able to execute the AUTOMOC step.
+ This can be easily checked with logging into the chroot,
+ go to a project directory and do :
+ mkdir build cd build cmake .. make

[Bug 1323233] Re: debug policy group

2014-06-02 Thread zbenjamin
The typical json file would look like this:

{
  qmlDebug: port:1234,block,
  env: {
key1: value1,
key2: value2
  },
  gdbPort: 1234
}

It defines which debug modes are needed and
the ports to be used for that. Also it is possible
to set environment variables.
This file is created by the SDK launcher:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~zeller-benjamin/qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu/cmakeclick/view/head:/share/qtcreator/ubuntu/scripts/qtc_device_applaunch.py

2014-05-26 Thread zbenjamin
This is a pressing issue, since we currently have to use very ugly hacks
to debug on the system.

Note that it will be required to debug scopes as well probably. Also the store
has to reject that
policy if its used in the manifest file.

[Bug 1309040] Re: Stable naming and query for Ubuntu Emulator device ID

2014-05-06 Thread zbenjamin
Thats a good question, my problem is not only to map the running
emulators to the QtC settings, but also to map the not running
emulators, like emu1 will be emulator1234 when its running.

Of course i could use the --port and store the used port inside QtC
settings. But that will fail as soon as someone starts a emulator
outside of QtC, but QtC still will pick it up :/

[Bug 1309040] [NEW] Stable naming and query for Ubuntu Emulator device ID

2014-04-17 Thread zbenjamin
Public bug reported:

Currently the device ID for the ubuntu emulator is changed on every boot,
its incremented for every emulator running in paralell.
This is a problem if multiple emulators are used together with the SDK and QtC.

In QtC devices need to have a unique ID, because all device settings need to
be stored and referenced somehow. If the device ID changes this can create
problems
(for example a armhf Toolchain could be linked to a x86 emulator).

In addition a method to query the created ID for all emulators is required, in
order
to map the output from ubuntu-emulator list to registered devices inside QtC
when
the emulator is not running.

[Bug 1302620] Re: [FFe] Remove remotelinux plugin and its dependencies from the QtC package

2014-04-08 Thread zbenjamin
Ok, this is a temporary solution until we merge our additions to remotelinux
upstream.
We had to add code that allows us to create own custom remotelinux
runconfigurations
for the Ubuntu SDK.

The patch itself does remove any functionality it just adds a interface.
However we can not leave the vanilla remotelinux plugin in the QtC package
because they would conflict and QtC would load both plugins.

It breaks ABI because i added a new interface and had to derive one of the
already existend
classes from that interface wich does the breakage. However all remotelinux
dependend plugins
in QtC are exported as well into packages:
qtcreator-plugin-remotelinux
qtcreator-plugin-qnx
qtcreator-plugin-valgrind

[Bug 1302620] [NEW] [FFe] Remove remotelinux plugin and its dependencies from the QtC package

2014-04-04 Thread zbenjamin
Public bug reported:

FFe for splitting the remotelinux plugin and its dependencies into new packages.
Also introduces a new abstract interface to allow derivation for plugins
depending on the remotelinux plugin.

The new packages are developed at: lp:qtcreator-plugin-remotelinux and are a
requirement
for the Ubuntu-SDK qtcreator-plugin which will improve the UX drastically for
cmake based UbuntuSDK
projects.

This FFe is about patching the mentioned plugins out of the QtC package, so the
packages can be installed instead.

The patched QtCreator is in this branch: lp:~zeller-benjamin/kubuntu-
packaging/qtcreator

Because of this breaking the ABI for QtC plugins deriving from remotelinux
and changing dependencies, this change needs to be landed together with the
required changes to:
- qtcreator-plugin-cmake
(lp:~zeller-benjamin/qtcreator-plugin-cmake/remotelinuxdeps)
- qtcreator-plugin-remotelinux ( lp:qtcreator-plugin-remotelinux)

Build log with the changes available from here:

The packages are already available from the ppa:
