[Bug 1079544] Re: ACPI Error: SMBus or IPMI write requires Buffer of length 66, found length 32
Hi I have the same problem on a HP DL386G7 running Debian Squeeze. I found out that that lm-sensors causes this when it tries to read the values of the power meter sensor, but obviously fails to get it: power_meter-acpi-0 Adapter: ACPI interface power1: 0.00 nW (interval = 300.00 s) When I ignore this sensor in /etc/sensors.conf the kernel message doesn't appear any longer. chip power_meter-* ignore power1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079544 Title: ACPI Error: SMBus or IPMI write requires Buffer of length 66, found length 32 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1079544/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1079544] Re: ACPI Error: SMBus or IPMI write requires Buffer of length 66, found length 32
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.7 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance. [Bug 1079544] Re: ACPI Error: SMBus or IPMI write requires Buffer of length 66, found length 32
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in linux. When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs. ** Package changed: ubuntu = linux (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079544 Title: ACPI Error: SMBus or IPMI write requires Buffer of length 66, found length 32 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1079544/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
