I have a current install of Gutsy, and I am experiencing this same behaviour on a Compaq Presario 2190 Laptop. stopping udevd stopped the flood of dmesg notices removing evms stopped it all together. Although, I'm sure this stuff was installed on purpose, I'm waiting for a proper solution..
