gdm.conf and add your journalctl log after a such login?

Status:
At the moment we are only releasing GNOME patches for Ubuntu 18.04 and
later. Plus there have been a couple of years worth of bug fixes.
Are you able to upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04 and try that?
