[Bug 1691981] Re: udoo x86 install multi-disk installer crash
I can see from your partman log file. No, the ESP must be a partition and must be flagged as an ESP and use fat32. The installer will take care of setting one up for you if you choose the auto partition option. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1691981 Title: udoo x86 install multi-disk installer crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1691981/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for responding Phillip (its appreciated). I don't remember deleteing it. I did reformat the drives I am trying to install on. there is a mmcblk device (32G), an M.2 SSD (250G) and an 80G spinner (HDD). I don't recall any of these having an EFI partition but I do remember erasing the drives so that probably caused the problem. > it appears that you deleted it. Is there something simple I can look at that pulls all the basics of EFI installs together? and again thanks for your attention. > > > ** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu) >Status: New => Invalid > > -- > You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug > report. > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1691981 > > Title: > udoo x86 install multi-disk installer crash > > Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu: > Invalid > > Bug description: > installing onto a new udoo x86 advanced plus. has mmcblk (32G), ssd > (250G, m.2 ssd), and external sata hdd, 80G. > > grub doesn't like something. was supposed to install onto the mmcblk. > > ProblemType: Bug > DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10 > Package: ubiquity 16.10.14 > ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.8.0-22.24-generic 4.8.0 > Uname: Linux 4.8.0-22-generic x86_64 > ApportVersion: 2.20.3-0ubuntu8 > Architecture: amd64 > CasperVersion: 1.379 > Date: Fri May 19 02:24:09 2017 > InstallCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/casper/vmlinuz.efi > file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu-gnome.seed boot=casper quiet splash --- > LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu-GNOME 16.10 "Yakkety Yak" - Release amd64 > (20161012.1) > ProcEnviron: >TERM=unknown >PATH=(custom, no user) >LANG=en_US.UTF-8 >SHELL=/bin/bash >LC_NUMERIC=C.UTF-8 > SourcePackage: grub-installer > UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) > > To manage notifications about this bug go to: > https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/ > +bug/1691981/+subscriptions > -- Eric B. [Bug 1691981] Re: udoo x86 install multi-disk installer crash
You are trying to install in EFI mode, and while you initially had an EFI system partition, it appears that you deleted it. You need to have one to install in EFI mode. ** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1691981 Title: udoo x86 install multi-disk installer crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1691981/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
